This article concerns what spirituality means in contemporary philosophy. The concept of spirituality has not been very familiar in the sphere of philosophy. Arguably, the traditional perspectives of European philosophy and theology would be helpful for defining ‘spirituality’ properly. First of all, this article is concerned about the genealogy of the mystic theology. Secondly, the hermeneutical horizon for understanding spirituality in contemporary philosophy is discussed. In that discussion, the first issue is the transformation of ‘reason’ concept, and the second issue is the understanding of transcendence. The final theme is the postmodern philosophical scheme for understanding spirituality. This article proposes the concept of ‘logos’ as a way of mediating not only philosophy and theology, but also the traditional and contemporary perspective of spirituality. Traditionally, the concept of spirituality has been derived from christianity and is not possible to explain without the religious and spiritual perspective in contemporary philosophy. In that respect, the hermeneutical horizon for ‘logos’ in the postmodern context is crucial to solve the problem. Based on this, the ontological hermeneutics to understand ‘logos’ will be founded in contemporary philosophy.

이 글은 현대문화와 철학적 터전에서 영성개념을 어떻게 이해할 수 있을지 그 가능성을 논의한다. 영성개념은 철학적으로는 다소 낯선 개념임에는 틀림이 없다. 따라서 이 개념의 이해를 위해 먼저 영성 개념이 해명되어야 할 것이다. 여기서는 계보사에 따라 고찰할 때 이 개념이 그리스도교 신학 전통과 함께 함을 밝힌다. 그런 까닭에 이 논문은 영성 개념의 이해를 위해 신비주의 신학의 영성 이해의 역사를 추적한다. 이어 이 논문의 주제인 현대철학에서의 영성 이해를 위한 해석학적 지평에 대해 논의한다. 그것을 여기서는 이성 개념에 대한 이해의 전환과 함께 초월성에 대한 새로운 이해, 마지막으로 영성 이해가 자리할 탈근대적인 철학 체계에 대해 논의한다. 이러한 논의에 근거하여 이 논문에서는 영성 이해를 신학적이며 철학적 관점에서 매개할 주제어로 로고스 개념을 제시할 것이다. 그것은 영성 개념과 그에 대한 이해는 전통적으로 그리스도교적 터전에서 유래했으며 지금도 역시 그러한 전통을 벗어나 이해될 수 없기 때문이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 탈근대적인 맥락에서 영성 개념을 이해하기 위해서는 로고스 개념의 해석학적 이해가 전제되어야 한다는 인식에 따라 이 두 영역을 넘어서는 이해가 요구된다. 이에 대한 단초를 여기서는 로고스 개념의 철학적 논의에서 찾으려 한다. 이러한 논거에 바탕하여 현대 철학은 영성 개념을 이해할 존재론적 해석학의 지평을 정초할 수 있을 것이다.
