- It is unavoidable that adults are involved in the production or marketing process of children and adolescent literature, considering the characteristics of the genre. After observing this tendency, this study tried to examine how the dominant, wide-spread Confucianism within the Korean society intervenes in the translation of Chinese children and adolescent literature into Korean language. Among many ideas of Confucianism, this study focuses on “Elders First” concept, in particular, which has been the foundation in the creation of hierarchy and authoritarianism. To this end, this study analyzed the children’s literary works that has been published in Korea for the recent ten years and tried to categorize the recontextualization aspects of Children and Adolescent Literature based on the Confucian values of the older generation.
