This is to study the donation for and contribution to the development of Jeju industrial economic by the Jeju people resident in Japan. As the lives of Jeju people resident in Japan is regarded as important as ever in the study of contemporary Jeju society, this study will indicate some implication to the scholars who study the significance of the Jeju people resident in Japan in and out of Korea. My study can be summarized as follows. First, contribution of Jeju people resident in Japan brought economical benefits and improvement of their lives to the beneficiaries. Second, Jeju people resident in Japan supported Jeju society with wide range of industrial economic and tangerine industry, manufacturing industry(glucose, drunkenness), financial business(banks, mutual credit deposit box), tourist industry(accommodation facilities, golf course, conference facilities). Third, contribution of Jeju people resident in Japan had influence on community and industrial economic of Jeju and enhancement of livelihood in private section. From the study of these factors, it was revealed that their contribution, support did help Jeju industrial economic and develop its Jeju society. Also, this study will help Jeju society understand the significance of contribution and support by Jeju people resident in Japan. The results of this study would help finding the ways of interchange between Jeju community and Jeju people resident in Japan stably in the human resources and the material resources perspective.

본고는 재일제주인의 산업경제에 대한 공헌을 고찰해 봄으로써, 최근 재일제주인의 삶에 대해 중요하게 인식되는 시기에 국내외 재일한인 연구자들에게 많은 시사점을 제공해 줄 것이다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 재일제주인의 공헌은 수혜를 받은 개인에게 생활향상과 같은 경제적 도움으로 작용하기도 하고, 제주의 지역개발을 비롯한 경제발전에도 커다란 역할을 하였다. 둘째, 재일제주인은 감귤산업을 비롯한 제조업(포도당, 주정공장), 금융업(제주은행, 제주상호신용금고), 관광산업(숙박시설, 골프장, 회의시설) 등 산업경제의 공헌에 대해 많은 관심과 지원을 아끼지 않았다. 셋째, 재일제주인의 공헌은 산업경제, 지역사회 개발 등 제주도 전반의 발전에 기여를 했음은 물론 사적 영역에서의 생활개선에도 결정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 따라서 본고는 제주지역의 산업경제(감귤산업, 제조업, 금융업, 관광산업)에 대한 공헌을 통해 재일제주인의 역할이 크게 작용했다고 볼 수 있으며, 더 나아가 이들의 애향심과 제주사회의 공헌에 대한 올바른 인식을 정립해 나가는데 크게 기여할 것이다. 또 제주도 사회와 재일제주인 사회가 불신과 갈등을 넘어 서로의 인적․물적 자원을 안정적으로 교류할 수 있는 방안을 모색할 수 있는 계기로 작용할 것이다.
