The rapidly changing socio-cultural setting of the 21st century demands a paradigmatic change in theological education, i.e. applicable, professional praxis-oriented education, uniting theory and praxis. The traditional theological education has a fundamental problem due to methodological blunder, following the deductive method, i.e. "from theory to practice", detached from the pastoral context. The praxis-oriented theological education which unites theory and praxis is attainable by practicing the methodology of the hermeneutical practical theology, i.e. "from practice (context) to theory (theology), and to practice (context) again", which dynamically unites both the inductive and deductive method. On the methodological foundation, the following practical plans are to be considered; implementing a ministry-focused curriculum, enhancing clinical training through internships, promoting capacity building through practicum, conducting theoretical education for praxis-oriented methodology, and lengthening the period of education. Furthermore, praxis-oriented theological education in a biblical sense, extends beyond the acquisition of knowledge and skill, essentially requiring communal spiritual formation through interpersonal relationships between 'you' and 'I', which provides an educational environment for experiencing the triune God in being and life. Thereby theological education is able to develop into praxis-oriented education building character and spirituality through modeling and mentoring.

21세기의 급변하는 사회문화적 상황은 신학교육의 근본적 변화, 즉 이론과 실천이 통합된 실천지향적 교육을 요구하고 있다. 전통적 패러다임의 신학교육은 “이론에서 실천으로"라는 이론중심의 연역적 방식의 방법론적 오류로 인해 교육의 내용과 방식이 실천현장과 분리된 근원적인 문제점을 지니고 있다. 이론과 실천이 통합되는 실천지향적 신학교육은 “실천(현장)에서 시작하여, 이론(신학)으로, 이론에서 다시 실천(현장)으로”의 귀납적, 연역적 방식이 역동적으로 통합되는 해석학적 실천신학 방법론의 회복과 실천을 통해서만 가능하다. 이러한 방법론적 기초 위에서 신학교육이 전문화를 지향하는 교과과정, 인턴십을 통한 현장실습 교육 강화, 실습교육을 통한 실기 연마의 강화, 실천지향적 방법론 중심의 이론교육, 교육연한 연장 등의 실천방안을 고려할 필요가 있다. 나아가 성경적 의미의 실천지향적 신학교육은 방법론 중심의 지식과 기능위주의 교육을 넘어 삼위일체 하나님을 존재와 삶으로 경험하는 교육구조와 환경으로서 ‘너와 나’의 관계성에 기초한 소그룹 공동체 영성계발이 필수적으로 요청된다. 이를 통해 신학교육이 관계중심의 모델링과 멘토링에 기초한 인성과 영성의 함양이 가능하게 되고 진정한 의미의 실천지향적 교육으로 발전하게 될 것이다.
