A Study of Goal of the PhThe purpose of this study is to redefine the ‘education of the physical’ from the perspectives of a existentialistic phenomenology and neuroscience. The idea of ‘education of the physical’ should not be understood premodern and narrow perspectives. The classification between means and goals in physical education to educate the human body is meaningless and could not be divided into two categories. It is not a bowl simply include the mind but making a human body and the ideas in the ‘education of the physical’ of new perspective, therefore making the body and the ideas should not separated into two categories. Today, who think of it this way? if we educate the body, we could build up the body alone, if we educate the mind, we could build up the mind alone. The human being is the body itself from the perspectives of a existentialistic phenomenology and neuroscience. The education of the physical is a education of the human being. All subject matters in school education should be focused on the education of human being. The reason of the various subject matters is to communicate in various ways, since we want to realize the ultimate educational goals. To conclude, by accepting a new perspective, the ‘education of the physical’ should be redefined into the ‘education of the human body’.ysical Education: In terms of the ‘Education of the Physical’

본고에서는 ‘신체의 교육’이라는 기존의 체육의 정의에 대한 이해를 비판적으로 검토한 후, 이를 철학적 관점과과학적 관점을 바탕으로 새롭게 재해석하려는 시도를 하였다. ‘신체의 교육’이라는 사상은 단지 신체를 훈련 및단련시키고자 하는 전근대적이며, 하나의 편협한 관점으로만 이해되어서는 안 된다. 인간의 몸(신체)을 교육시키는 체육교육에서 수단과 목표의 구분은 무의미할 뿐만 아니라 구분될 수도 없다. 새로운 관점의 ‘신체의 교육’은신체가 마음을 담는 ‘그릇’이 아니라, 신체를 교육시키는 것은 인간의 몸을 만드는 것이고, 인간의 몸을 만드는것과 정신을 만드는 것은 결코 분리될 수 없다는 입장을 견지한다. 세상에 어떤 사람이 몸을 가르치면 ‘몸’만 단련되고, 마음을 가르치면 ‘정신’만 수련된다고 생각할까? 현상학적 관점이나 뇌과학적 관점에서 볼 때, 결국 인간은 ‘몸’ 그 자체이다. 신체(몸)의 교육이 곧 인간교육인 셈이다. 학교에서 가르치는 모든 교과목들은 인간 교육이되어야 하며, 우리가 학교 체제하에서 다양한 교과목들을 가르치는 이유는 학생과 다양한 방식으로 소통하여 궁극적인 교육의 목적을 실현하기 위함이다. 결론적으로, ‘신체의 교육(education of the physical)’이라는 사상을 보다 거시적인 관점에서 ‘인간의 몸에 관한 교육(education of the human body)’라고 새롭게 재해석해보는 것은 어떨까? 교육학 분야와 마찬가지로 체육학 분야의 발전 과정은 지역주의적인 양상(localism)을 띠고 있다. 이렇게되면, ‘체육이란 무엇인가?’라는 근본적인 질문에 대해 다양한 답이 나올 수밖에 없다. 이러한 문제를 해결할 수있는 방법은 무엇일까? 그것은 체육을 정의할 때, 보다 폭넓은 관점을 수용하는 길 밖에 없다.
