The purpose of this study was to investigate prevalence and motor coordination of children with developmental coordination disorder(DCD) in Korea. The participants were 102 elementary school students in J Borough of Seoul. Movement Assessment of Battery for Children-2(MABC-2) was used to assess motor development of children at the second grade. Children were categorized as a group of DCD when they rated below 16% of MABC-2. 7 professionals were participated to assess children's motor development at secon grade. One-way ANOVA and post-hoc analysis(LSD) was conducted to examine difference in total percentile score, and each percentile score of manual dexterity, aiming and catching, and static and dynamic balance, respectively. There were one child (below 5%) and other 5 children (6-16%). As a result, 6% of Korean children at 7 years old seem to have DCD. Children with DCD have shown lower scores in manual dexterity and balance but not in aiming and catching compared with typically developing children.

이 연구는 운동기술의 발달이 지연되어 일상생활과 학교생활에서 어려움을 겪는 발달성협응장애(developmental coordination disorder, DCD) 아동의 운동협응 특성과 발현율에 대해 규명하고자 하였다. 서울시 S초등학교의 2 학년 학생 중 참여의사를 밝힌 102명을 대상으로 운동발달검사를 실시하였다. 운동발달검사는 Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2(MABC-2)를 사용하였으며, 소근운동, 대근운동, 균형 등의 3가지 영역에 대하여 전문 평가자 7인이 아동의 운동기술의 발달 수준을 평가하였다. 그 결과 총 102명 중 중도탈락한 2명을 제외한 100명의 아동 중 1명의 아동이 발달성협응장애에 해당하는 것으로 나타났으며 이는 전체의 1%에 해당하였다. 또한 발달성협응장애 위험군에 속하는 아동은 5명으로 조사되었다. 발달성협응장애 아동은 일반적 발달 특성을보이는 아동에 비하여 소근운동과 균형 능력이 낮은 수준의 협응을 보였다. 그러나 물체를 던지고 받는 등의 대근운동은 집단 간에 차이가 없었다.
