This article aimed at offering the basic information for developing the professional golf championship through in-depth research into various spectator motivations of the Matchplay championship. For that, we selected the spectators of the Dusan Matchplay Championship as the subject, used total 369data for actual inductive analysis and have got the result as follows: First, as the result of inductive content analysis on general spectator motivation field, 5 fields were derived environment, learning, health, pleasure and leisure, and we had 1,107responds, 44.5% of respondents answered as pleasure, 18.2% answered as learning, 16.7% answered as leisure, 13.6% answered as environment and 7.0% answered as health. Second, of detail fields upon general field, the detail fields of pleasure were an interest in golf, an interest in Matchplay championship, player and event, the detail fields of learning were vicarious satisfaction and self-development, the detail fields of leisure were family leisure, social intercourse and leisure life, the detail fields of environment were golf course, weather and accessibility and the detail fields of health were exercise and stress reduction. Third, the ration of responses for the detail fied was in order of player, vicarious learning, an interest in golf, family leisure, an interest of Matchplay championship, self-development, accessibility, golf course, leisure life, exercise, social intercourse, stress deduction, weather and event. Fourth, there was no difference depending on gender of spectators.

본 연구는 매치플레이 경기방식 프로골프대회 갤러리들의 다양한 관람동기에 대한 심층적 연구를 통하여 프로골프 대회 발전에 기초자료를 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 이와 같은 목적을 위해 KLPGA의 정규투어 중 ʻ두산 매치플레이 챔피언십ʼ에 갤러리로 참여한 대상을 모집단으로 설정하여, 총 369부의 자료가 실제 귀납적 분석에 사용되었으며, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 관람동기 일반영역의 귀납적 내용분석 결과 "환경ˮ, "학습ˮ, "건강ˮ, "즐거움ˮ, "여 가ˮ의 5개의 일반 영역이 도출되었으며, 전체 1,107개의 응답 중 "즐거움ˮ이 44.5%, "학습ˮ 18.2%, "여가ˮ 16.7%, "환 경ˮ 13.6%, "건강ˮ 7.0%의 반응빈도가 나타났다. 둘째, 일반영역에 "즐거움ˮ의 세부영역은 "골프재미ˮ, "매치플레이골 프경기재미ˮ, "선수ˮ, "이벤트ˮ로 나타났으며, "학습ˮ의 세부영역은 "대리만족ˮ과 "자기개발ˮ로 나타났다. "여가ˮ의 세 부영역은 "가족여가ˮ, "사교ˮ, "여가생활ˮ로 나타났고, "환경ˮ의 세부영역은 "골프장ˮ, "날씨ˮ, "접근성ˮ으로 나타났으 며, "건강ˮ의 세부영역은 "운동ˮ과 "스트레스 해소ˮ로 나타났다. 셋째, 세부영역의 응답비율은 "선수ˮ, "대리학습ˮ, "골 프재미ˮ, "가족여가ˮ, "매치플레이경기재미ˮ, "자기개발ˮ, "접근성ˮ, "골프장ˮ, "여가생활ˮ, "운동ˮ, "사교ˮ, "스트레스해 소ˮ, "날씨ˮ, "이벤트ˮ 순으로 나타났다. 넷째, 관람동기 성별에 따른 차이는 나타나지 않았다.
