This study is intended to clarify essential aspects of teacher through searching the meaning of 'genuine teacher'. Therefore, I examine the modes of 'genuine teachers', whom are supposed to have certain qualifications by the three main agents of education-teachers, students and parents. Constantly, I inspect the perspective of child-anthropology scholars, such as Langeveld, for seeing in view of children. Furthermore, I asked seventy students who are sixth-graders questions of 'genuine teachers' by the survey with open-ended questions. The results reveals as it follows: first, students understand what are 'genuine teachers through their own experience in various situation. Second, students love kind teachers and understand what are kind teachers by good experiences with those kind teachers in certain situations. Third, students want teachers to understand them within their situations. Finally, students sympathize the enthusiasm of teachers in their learning situation. In sum, through various courses which are required for being good teachers and procedures for selecting good teachers, teachers should acquire lots of pedagogical knowledge but in reality, it is doubtful whether teachers have those kind of knowledge.

본 연구는 초등학생의 입장에서 ‘선생님다운 선생님’이라는 용어를 통하여 선생님의 본질적 인 모습을 찾아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해서 개방형 질문 조사를 이용하여 70명의 6학년 학생 들에게 선생님다운 선생님에 대하여 조사하였다. 결과 학생이 생각하는 선생님다운 선생님은 첫째, 나를 위한 상황에서 나서는 선생님이었다. 둘째, 착한 선생님이었다. 무조건적으로 친절 하고 착해야 한다는 것이 아니라 상황에 따라 친절 또는 착한 것이었다. 셋째, 학생의 상황에 서 학생을 이해하는 선생님이었다. 넷째, 열정적인 선생님이었다. 좋은 교사가 되기 위하여, 또는 좋은 교사를 선발하기 위하여 진행되는 많은 과정 중에 교사에게 필요한 교육학적 지식 중 하나가 실제로 아동에게 작동되고 있는 지식임을 알게 되었다.
