The purpose of this paper was to understand the emotion and its related process, and to establish the direction of school counseling as practical strategies for a concrete realization of the character education, in order to overcome the problem of dehumanization caused due to the excessive focus on academic learning in the schooling. For this purpose, first researcher outlined the working definition of emotion and emotion-related constructs and major theoretical perspectives on emotional process, and then examined the findings of empirical studies in the areas of affective neuroscience and clinical psychology. Also researcher introduced a prevention and intervention models designed to reflect the outcomes of these basic studies. Finally, researcher suggested the implications for prevention and intervention of emotional problems and mental disorders in children's counseling as a practical strategy for character education, promoting their holistic development in the school education. The results of preliminary studies reviewed in this paper is very encouraging, such that therapists may take the significant benefits in improving children's emotional competence by paying attention to the emotional process in. the prevention and intervention of psychological disorders. However, there remains many challenges that must be challenged, including further investigating the relationship between emotional process and psychological disorders, developing the intervention strategy appropriate for children's development level, testing the unique effectiveness of the emotion-focused intervention compared to other interventions, exploring the mechanisms of intervention and its long-term effects, and etc.

이 연구의 목적은 학문학습 편중 현상으로 초래된 학교교육의 비인간화 문제를 이해하고 극복하기 위한 인성교육의 실천 전략으로서 정서학습과 상담을 체계적으로 이해하고 인성교육의 구체적인 실현 방안을 정립하는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 정서와 정서 관련 개념에 대한 작동 정의와 이론적 관점을 간단히 개괄하고, 신경과학과 임상심리 분야에서 밝혀진 정서 관련 경험적 연구의 성과를 고찰한다. 이어서 이러한 기초연구의 성과를 반영하여 개발된 예방 및 개입 모형을 소개하며, 이를 토대로 학교교육에서 학생들의 전인적 성장과 발달을 도모하려는 인성교육의 실천 전략으로서 정서 문제의 예방과 개입을 위한 아동상담의 미래 방향을 제안한다. 신경과학과 임상심리학 분야의 연구결과는 심리적 장애의 예방 및 개입 프로그램에서 정서와 정서 관련 과정에 주의를 기울임으로써 아동들의 정서유능성을 향상시키는 데 상당히 긍정적인 효과를 거둘 수 있음을 시사한다. 이 논문에서 고찰한 이론적 및 경험적 연구들의 결과는 매우 고무적이지만, 정서 과정과 심리적 장애의 관계에 대한 계속 연구를 비롯하여 아동의 발달 수준에 맞는 개입 전략의 개발, 여타 접근과의 상대적 효과성 검증, 개입 효과의 기제와 지속성에 대한 탐구 등 도전해야 할 많은 과제가 남아 있다.
