The objective of this research was to find whether, in the relationship between a child’s jealousy and depression, mediated regulation effect emerges in the quality of friendship through self-regulation. For this purpose, this study measured jealousy, depression, the quality of friendship, and self-regulation in 466 4th to 6th graders in Gyeongsangnamdo and analyzed the mediated regulation model, which was the research model, and the regulated mediation model, which was the competing model. The results are as follows: first, when a correlation analysis was carried out on the variables, jealousy showed a positive relationship with depression and a negative relationship with the quality of friendship and self-control. Also, the quality of friendship showed a positive relationship with self-regulation, and negative relationship with depression; self-regulation and depression also showed negative relationship with each other. Second, it was shown that the quality of friendship mediates the relationship between jealousy and depression. Third, through hierarchical regression analysis, it was confirmed that self-regulation has a regulating effect on the relationship between jealousy and the quality of friendship. Fourth, upon verifying the effect of mediated regulation and the effect of regulated mediation, it was confirmed that the mediation effect of friendship on the influence that jealousy has on depression varies according to the level of self-regulation. Such results mean that children who have a strong sense of jealousy can experience depression more due to the lowered quality of friendship, but that when there is high self-control, the amount of decline in the quality of friendship is moderated; and because the quality of friendship is maintained to a certain degree, they are able to sense less depression. In conclusion, I discussed the implications and limitations of the intervention of counseling and psychological treatment in this research.

이 연구는 아동의 시샘과 우울 간의 관계에서 자기조절을 통한 친구관계의 질의 매개된 조절효과가 나타나는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경상남도 소재 4～6학년 466명을 대상으로 시샘, 우울, 친구관계의 질, 자기조절을 측정하여 연구모형인 매개된 조절모형과 경쟁모형인 조절된 매개모형을 분석하였고 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 변인들 간의 상관분석을 실시한 결과, 시샘은 우울과 정적 상관을 보였고, 친구관계의 질과 자기조절과는 각각 부적 상관을 보였다. 또한 친구관계의 질은 자기조절과 정적 상관을, 우울과는 부적 상관을 보였고, 자기조절과 우울 역시 서로 부적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 시샘과 우울 간의 관계를 친구관계의 질이 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 자기조절이 시샘과 친구관계의 질의 관계에서 조절효과가 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 넷째, 매개된 조절효과를 검증한 결과, 시샘이 우울에 미치는 영향에 대한 친구관계의 매개효과가 자기조절의 수준에 따라 달리 나타난다는 매개된 조절효과를 확인하였다. 이와 같은 결과는 시샘을 강하게 느끼는 아동들은 친구관계의 질이 저하되어 우울을 더 많이 경험할 수 있지만 자기조절이 높을 경우 친구관계의 질의 수준의 저하가 완화되고 친구관계의 질이 어느 정도 유지가 되기 때문에 우울을 적게 지각할 수 있음을 의미하는 것이다. 마지막으로 이 연구에 대한 상담 및 심리치료적 개입에 대한 시사점과 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.
