This study aims to classify the forms of creative dance during the time when the Korean creative dance began and look into the trend of the times, correctly. It will divide the developmental patterns of the creative dance formed during the 1970s into new dance style creative dance and Korean creative dance and examine them. Also, through an analysis of the forms of the early Korean creative dance classified into the two aspects, it will investigate and reveal the spirit of the times in the Korean creative dance and its true meaning. This paper has significance that, through meditating the spirit of the times in Korean creative dance and its value, it can allow young South Korean dancers who do Korean dance in this day and age to think about what spirit they should have, think about their own philosophy of dance, and hopefully, it allows them to have a chance to find a way to establish a new genre of dance art. Moreover, hopefully, it can be the foundation on which the genealogy of dance history can be reorganized, and it is expected that more in-depth discussions will continue in the future.

본 연구는 초기 한국창작춤이 태동하였던 시기의 창작춤의 형태를 구분하고 올바른 시대사조를 연구하는데 목적이 있다. 1970년대 형성된 창작춤의 발생양상을 신무용류 창작춤과 한국창작춤으로 구분하여 살펴보고 두 가지 양상으로 분류된 초기 한국창작춤의 형태에 대한 분석을 통해 한국창작춤의 시대정신이 무엇이었으며 한국창작춤이 갖는 진정한 의미가 무엇이었는지 규명 짓는 연구가 될 것이다. 본고는 지금 이시대의 우리춤을 추고 있는 젊은 무용인들이 한국 창작춤의 시대정신과 그 가치를 되새겨보는 것을 통해 어떠한 정신을 가져야하며, 자신의 춤 철학에 대해 생각해 보고 또 새로운 춤 예술장르를 구축해 나갈 수 있는 방법을 찾는 기회가 되길 기대하며 연구의 의미를 두고자 한다. 나아가 무용사의 새로운 계보정리가 되는 초석이 되길 바라며 보다 심도 있는 논의가 지속되길 기대한다.
