This study explored the distribution and aspect of civil cases through analyzing the written judgements of Hansung District Court made from 1895 to 1912, which stored in the database system(http://khd.scourt.go.kr) developed by Supreme Court Library of Korea. In this study, the structure, style, requirements and changes of the written judgements were examined, and case name, court name, ruling data were selected for statistical analysis from original images of the judgements in Guhanmal period. As a result, 6,352 written judgements were listed up by using this system. 762 keywords were extracted from case names and the keywords were classified into 10 categories including family register, land, building, ship, money, rice, substitute, security, grave, and others based on judicial statistics of ｢Chosun-Chongdokbu statistics yearbook 1911｣. Based on these case groups, the study analyzed the contents of the written judgements and looked into its features. The significance of this study is that it overviews the changes in the format of written judgements, as well as the dispersion and characteristics of civil cases during modern Korean history.

본 연구는 법원도서관에서 구축한 ‘구한말 민사판결문 응용시스템(http://khd.scourt.go.kr)’에 수록된 1895년부터 1912년까지의 근대 한국 한성재판소 민사판결문에 대한 현황 분석을 통해 당시의 민사소송 사건 분포와 사건 양상에 대해 살펴본 것이다. 민사판결문 양식의 변천, 구성요소 등에 대해 살펴보고, 민사판결문에 있는 사건명, 재판소명, 판결일자 등을 분석항목으로 선정하여, 한성재판소의 민사판결문 6,352건의 목록을 작성하였다. 사건명에서 762개의 키워드를 추출하여, ｢조선총독부통계연보 1911｣에 수록된 사법통계를 기준으로 인사, 토지, 건물, 선박, 금전, 미곡, 물품, 증권, 분묘, 기타 등 10개의 사건 그룹으로 분류하고, 이를 토대로 민사판결문의 사건 내용을 분석하였다. 이 논문은 근대 한국의 격변기에 민사판결문의 양식의 변천과 사건 분포에 대해 개관했다는 점에서 의미 있다.
