This study is designed to examine if adolescents’ emotional problems and smart phone dependency influence school life adaptation and also if smart phone dependency plays mediating roles in correlation between adolescents’ emotional problems and school life adaptation. To attain the goal, this author used SPSS/win 20.0 to perform descriptive analysis, Pearson’s correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis on total 2,351 middle school first-grade adolescents, the subjects of the 3rd Year of Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (2012) conducted by National Youth Policy Institute. Also, to verify the statistical significance of smart phone dependency’s mediating effects, Sobel Test was employed for analysis. The results of this study are as follows: first, it has been found that emotional problems have direct effects on smart phone dependency. Second, in correlation between adolescents’ emotional problems and school life adaptation, cellphone dependency plays mediating roles. Based on the findings, this researcher provides suggestions as well as measures to intervene with adolescents’ smart lphone dependency in the aspects of welfare so as to help them to adapt themselves to school life favorably.

본 연구는 청소년의 정서문제(주의집중, 사회적 위축, 우울, 공격성)와 스마트폰의존이 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향과 스마트폰 의존이 청소년의 정서문제와 학교생활적응 간의 관계에서 매개역할을 하는지를 파악하기 위해 설계되었다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원이 실시한 한국아동․청소년패널조사 3차년도(2012년) 자료에 해당하는 중학교 1학년 청소년 총2,351명을 대상으로 SPSS/win 20.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 기술 분석, Pearson의 상관관계분석, 중다 회귀분석을 실사하였으며, 스마트폰의존의 매개효과 통계적 유의성 확인을 위해 Sobel 검증방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정서문제(주의집중, 사회적 위축, 우울, 공격성)와 스마트폰 의존은 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 정서문제(주의집중, 사회적 위축, 우울, 공격성)와 학교생활적응 간의 관계에서 스마트폰 의존은 매개역할을 하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 청소년의 원만한 학교생활적응을 도울 수 있도록 청소년 복지적 차원에서 스마트폰 의존에 대한 개입방안과 제언을 하였다.
