The purpose of this study was to determine the current state and prospects for the publication of literatures translated from Chinese into Korean in the 21st century. For the purpose of the study, the current state was investigated in three aspects based on Korean Publication Yearbook and the website of Korean Publishers Association. Firstly the current state of literatures translated from Chinese into Korean was examined, secondly circumstances in the introduction of prominent Chinese authors were checked, and thirdly the conditions of translation from Chinese into Korean performed by prominent translators were researched. In 2014, the current state of literatures translated from Chinese into Korean was nearly similar with their status shown in 2008. Academically great books have been translated constantly under national support and Chinese classic books have been also published steadily. Chinese modern literatures have been translated steadily, too. However, the gap between the United States or Japanese literatures and Chinese literatures was still enormous as the gap of nearly 10 times in translated volume, so workers related to Chinese literatures have experienced a seriously comparative deprivation. In other words, the influence of China on Korean society is currently great and has been expanded, but the development of Chinese literatures is insufficient in the field of translated literatures in Korea. However, prominent Chinese authors, Yu Hua’s and Mo Yan’s most literatures were translated. And, among translators of Chinese literature into Korean, competent translators majored in translation at graduate school of interpretation and translation, which is the top translation course in Korea, are translating Chinese literature. Accordingly, literatures translated Chinese into Korean are improving in their quality and quantity, and prospects for literatures translated Chinese into Korean are bright in the 21st century.

본고는 21세기 중한 문학번역의 출판 현황과 전망을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본고에서는 한국출판연감 및 대한출판협회 홈페이지의 자료를 바탕으로 세 가지 면모를 검토하였다. 첫째 중국문학번역현황을 검토하고, 둘째 대표적인 중국작가의 소개상황을 점검하였으며, 셋째 대표적인 한중문학번역가의 번역 양상을 고찰하였다. 2014년 현재 중국문학 번역현황은2008년에 비해 달라진 점이 없었다. 국가적 지원에 의한 학술명저 번역과 중국고전 출판 등은지속적으로 이루어졌으며, 중국 현대문학 번역 역시 꾸준히 수행되고 있었다. 다만 거의 7배가까이 되는 미국이나 일본과의 격차는 그대로 유지되고 있어 상대적 박탈감이 심화된 상황이다. 즉, 현재 국내에서 체감으로 느끼는 중국의 비중 확대가 적어도 문학번역에서는 미미하다는 점이다. 그러나 중국의 대표적 작가인 위화나 모옌에 대한 작품이 대부분 번역되고 또중한 문학번역가의 수준이 통역번역대학원이라는 국내 최고 번역과정을 이수한 인재들로 채워지고 있어 중한 문학번역의 질적, 양적 향상이 다져지고 있으므로 21세기 중한 문학번역의출판전망은 밝다고 할 수 있다.
