This study starts with the premise that should be presented the effective method of writing education connected reading in the basic liberal arts education requirements in order to improve the writing proficiency of college students. In such premises, first of all after researching Bildungsroman historically, it cites the expressive (autobiographical) writing plan as its utilizing. In literary criticism, a Bildungsroman is a literary genre that focuses on the psychological and moral growth of the protagonist from youth to adulthood (coming of age), in which character change is extremely important. In this regard, after reading this Bildungsroman (here for example, James Joyce 『A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man』 and Thomas Mann 『Der Zauberberg』), the students can express their thoughts in reflective writing. Concretely, self-exploring can expand to reflection about society, to introspection about the world. This study is an example of new plan presentation for writing education, more to the point, this paper is not the case-study of a certain specific university, not the software access method such as writing lecture, instruction and feedback system. But it will present an example of the general integrated education about reading and writing. If so, it will be another example to fill out the text based on reading poetry or drama work as well as (Bildungs)roman.

본 연구는 대학생들의 글쓰기 능력을 향상시키기 위해 대학의 필수 교양과목으로 운영되는 관련 교과목에서 읽기와 연동되는 글쓰기 교육의 효율적인 방안이 제시되어야 한다는 전제에서 출발한다. 그러한 전제 하에, 먼저 교양소설을 역사적으로 고찰한 후 그 활용으로써 표현적 글쓰기 방안의 한 예를 들었다. 교양소설은 주인공이 그 시대의 문화적·인간적 환경 속에서 유년시절부터 청년시절에 이르는 사이에 자기를 발견하고 정신적으로 성장해 나가는 과정을 묘사한다. 이런 관점에서 보면 이 교양소설을 읽은 후에 학생들은 자신을 되돌아볼 수 있는 성찰적인 글을 작성할 수 있으며, 구체적으로는 자기 탐색이 사회에 대한 성찰, 세계에 대한 탐색으로 확장될 수가 있을 것이다. 본고는 글쓰기 교육에 대한 새로운 방안 제시의 한 예로서, 중요한 것은 어느 특정 대학교의 사례연구라든가 글쓰기 강의, 지도, 피드백 등의 소프트웨어적 글이 아니라 읽기와 쓰기의 일반적인 통합 형태의 한 예를 제시하는 것이다. 그렇게 본다면 (교양)소설뿐만 아니라, 시 또는 희곡 작품 읽기를 바탕으로 학생들이 자신의 이야기를 내용으로 구성하여 텍스트를 작성하는 것도 읽기와 쓰기의 일반적인 통합 교육의 또 하나의 예가 될 수 있을 것이다.
