The backbone of South Korea’s economic development has been international trade and export present in every industry and many indexes shows that the baby boomer generation makes up the largest number of manufacturing workers. There is no evidence to the contrary denying the contribution played by a nation`s exports in that emerging nations’ economic growth and this is especially true for Korea. As an export driven country, experts expected Korea’s great growth potential with the conclusion of the FTA (free trade agreement) over the last 10 years; however, the demand and supply gap for professional trade manpower has seriously deepened in Korean small and medium-sized exporting enterprises. The strain of this widening gap resulted in pressure on the manpower market. A rethinking and reconfiguration of traditional employment may be a solution for the recovery of a sluggish Korean economy and growing employment problem. The retiring baby boomer generation, middle-aged, and young adult workers can cooperatively be placed in appropriate sectors: the retiring baby boomer generation to knowledge intensive services such as cross border e-commerce and middle-aged and young adults to manufacturing industries. Additionally, a lack of employment creates potential social disorders such as low self- confidence and dignity. Korean baby boomers have played a crucial role in the economic development and industrialization of Korea and through this have gained vital knowledge that will simply become buried and inaccessible if they are disengaged simply because of their age. The result of this is a loss to the Korean economy. This research focuses on a second foothold era of Korean Economic growth by converting overlooked yet available learned knowledge, industrial experience, massive useful industrial information and human networks to overseas’ markets where cross border e-commerce is the stimulus of global demand & supply markets. A cross border e-commerce job training program (employment & entrepreneurship education) of korean baby boomers will transform these workers into the economic globalization and international trade. Ultimately Korea may achieve a targeted $2 trillion in trade.

한국 경제 발전의 근간은 수출을 기본으로 한 제조 산업 분야의 발전과 그 맥을 같이하고 있으며 베이비부머 세대 역시 높은 비중으로 제조업 종사 근로자들의 비중이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 한국은 수출 주도형 국가로서 F.T.A.(free trade agreement) 체결국의 확산과 더불어 앞으로도 잠재적 성장의 가능성을 발휘할 것으로 기대되고 있지만 수출 관련 중소기업 등의 전문 인력 수급 부족 현상 역시 심화되고 있으며 인력 시장 개방 등의 문제점을 야기 시키고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 베이비부머 세대들의 은퇴로 인한 생계형 재취업 문제와 결합시켜 제조업 등의 산업 분야에 청, 장년층을 진출시키고 베이비부머 세대들은 전자상거래 등의 지식서비스 기반의 수출 역군으로 발전시켜 분업화 시킨다면 사회, 경제적 국가 경제 발전에 큰 보탬이 됨은 물론 사회적인 상승효과와 베이비부머 세대의 자존감을 상승시킬 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구에서는 한국산업화를 통한 엄청난 지식, 경험 및 산업전반에서의 정보를 가지고 있는 베이비부머들의 해외부분에서의 능력 활용 전환을 토대로 한국무역이 제2의 도약의 큰 발판을 가질 수 있다는 점을 확신시키고, 특히 세계적 수요/구매형태의 변화의 주류가 되어가는 국경을 초월하는 전자상거래(Cross Border E-Commerce)무역교육과 취·창업 교육을 통해 베이비부머 그들 자신을 세계화시키고 나아가 한국전자상거래활성화 역할에 편승시키며, 궁극적으로 한국무역의 2조불 달성의 가능성을 타진해 보았다. 이를 위해 본 연구의 범위를 714만 명의 베이비붐 세대의 현황과 정의, 그 들의 경제 참여와 기여도, 한국에서의 무역기여도와 전자상거래가 차지하는 비중, 그 들을 무역, 특히 전자무역, 전자상거래 분야로의 진출 방안으로 그 범위를 한정 하고 그에 준하는 베이비부머와 한국 무역과 전자상거래에 관한 자료 분석을 토대로 진출방안을 도출해내고 분석 하였다.
