Existing studies have presented a wide range of factors determining the quality of medical service. No studies tried integrating and classifying them in a systematic and concise way. This paper presents a conceptual framework for organizing various deter-minant factors into three hierarchical categories, and examines the categories’ influ-ences on a customer’s intention to purchase a medical service. Empirical analysis was done by using data from Chinese medical tourists in Korea. The role of an invasiveness of treatment is additionally explored as a moderating variable in order to examine the relative importance of influencing factors. Depending on the type of medical services to be purchased, an invasiveness of treatment will play a moderating role between the quality of medical service and customer’s purchase intention.
