This article attempts to find ways to overcome the stagnant Korean church education system that focuses primarily on diverse programs and events, which proved fruitless in its endeavors. Currently, many the sermons and bible studies are practiced in a one-sided manner, with teachers mainly talking and giving lectures. Furthermore, the various programs and events which have been offered thus far frequently fail to bring forth the expected results. Hence, this article proposes Havruta as an alternative strategy that could meet the needs and interest of the participants and ultimately solidifies the faith community. Havruta, which used to mean “discussing partners”(i.e. friendship, companionship, and friend), now signifies “studying texts with partners.” By using the Havruta method, participants read, think, and discuss God’s word with each other, through which they experience the joy of discovering the value of truth together. However, in order to practice Havruta, it is necessary to become accustomed to the elements and the processes of Havruta itself. The process of Havruta requires that the participants be able to read the given text, summarize it, make questions, answer what’s being questioned, refute the arguments, explain the logic of one’s arguments with evidence, point out anything from the evidence that is not right/true, and further reach the conclusion with a satisfying solution. The success of Havruta depends primarily on how to generate questions. The basic questions can be generated as follows: firstly, according to the 5W’s and 1H’s, secondly, according to question frames using the question cards, and lastly, according to the nine question types. Once the participants can freely generate questions using the above question generation strategies, they can use the Havruta method with the Bible at home and in church, which would ultimately help to pass down our faith to our children and to put God’s word at the center of their lives. In conclusion, this article attempts to achieve the following: firstly, to examine the meaning and the process of Havruta, secondly, to look into the ways of generating questions that could help practice Havruta, and lastly, to show how the Havruta method, using its question generating strategies, can be applied in faith communities such as the home and the church so that faith communities can be solidified through God’s word.

본 논문은 각종 프로그램과 이벤트식 교육에 빠져 있는 한국 교회교육의 위기와 침체된 한국 교회교육의 상황을 극복하려는 시도에서 연구하였다. 오늘날 교회교육은 교사의 일방적인 설교와 성경공부, 학습자들의 흥미와 관심도 없는 프로그램과 이벤트가 진행되고 있으므로 이에 대한 대안을 하브루타 신앙공동체 교육에서 찾고자 한 것이다. 하브루타는 처음에 우정(friendship), 교우(companionship), 친구(friend) 등 토론하는 짝을 의미했으나 현대에서는 ‘두 명이 짝을 이루어 텍스트를 공부하는 행위’로 사용한다. 하브루타 교육방법은 학습자들이 스스로 하나님의 말씀을 읽고 생각하고 사고하고 토론하며 진리의 보화를 발견해 나가는 기쁨을 얻는다. 그러나 하브루타를 하려면 먼저 하브루타와 그 구성요인 및 과정을 매우 익숙하게 잘 알아야 하고, 질문을 생성할 수 있는 능력이 있어야 한다. 하브루타는 상대방과 짝을 지어 주어진 텍스트를 읽고, 진술하고, 질문하고, 대답하고, 반박하며, 자기주장이 정당한지 논리적으로 설명하거나 논리적인 증거를 제시해야 하며, 새로운 증거에 대해 사실이나 진실이 아닌 것을 찾아내어 지적하면서 해결책을 찾고 바람직한 방향을 모색하며 마무리 하는 과정을 거치기 때문이다. 하브루타의 성공여부는 질문생성을 어떻게 하느냐에 따라 좌우된다. 하브루타를 위한 가장 기본적인 질문생성 전략은 6하 원칙에 따라, 질문카드를 사용한 질문의 틀에 따라, 9개의 질문유형에 따라 질문을 생성할 수 있다. 질문생성 전략을 통해 질문생성이 어느 정도 자유롭게 되면 가정과 교회에서 성경으로 하브루타를 하여 자녀들에게 신앙을 전수하고 하나님의 말씀과 자녀들을 연결하여 말씀이 삶의 핵이 되도록 돕는 것이다. 따라서 본 논문은 첫째, 스스로 하나님의 말씀을 읽고 생각하고 사고하고 토론하며 보화를 발견하는 기쁨을 얻을 수 있는 하브루타와 그 과정에 대해 알아보고 둘째, 하브루타를 할 수 있는 기본적인 질문생성을 어떻게 할 것인가를 살펴보며 셋째, 질문생성을 통한 하브루타 교육방법을 신앙공동체인 가정과 교회교육에 적용하여 말씀에 근거한 신앙공동체를 굳건히 하는데 목적이 있다.
