This article was written for the writing strategies and rhetorical features of Mrs. Kim’s appeals. The appeal is writing of persuasion, so it can perform a successful mission when writing strategies and the features of rhetorical are conducted. Primary appeal and the second appeal were written under the different motivation and situation. And they were utilized the appropriate language context and performed and strategic writing. Mrs. Kim preferred the proven and logical persuasion rather than how to appeal to recognize the sensitivity or irritation. In the first appeal, she relieved the charges and secured the confidence and laid the foundation of persuasion. She cited as the most important Confucian values and assumptions of women in contemporary society, such as missions. Historical events were presented to illustrate the argument. In order to avoid the punishment, she reduced the statement about the incident. In the second appeal, she made the king maintains the previous judgments of the past through the techniques of ventilation and identification and derived to recognize as his own problem. She proved the case by mentioning the specific dates, distances and the witness. She disputed, too. The overall configuration of the two appeals. she has chosen the principle of concentration and exclusion. Mrs. Kim, who is a woman, the elderly, and the alienation of 家母 of destroyed family did not incite the king’s sensitivity and appeal to the emotions by stressing her cruel situation as a weak and beholden person. She had perfectly done the purpose of writing by using the writing strategies and the rhetorical features of the argument. The appeal and political participation of Mrs. Kim seems to have affected the identity of the Chosun woman as well as 老論 woman.

본고는 김씨 부인 상언의 글쓰기 전략과 수사적 특징을 살피기 위해 작성되었 다. 상언은 설득의 글쓰기 전략과 수사적 특징을 잘 활용했을 때 성공적 임무를 수행할 수 있다. 1차 상언과 2차 상언의 작성 동기와 상황이 달랐던 만큼 김씨 부인은 상황과 목적에 맞는 글쓰기 전략을 세우고 적절한 언어 구사와 수사법을 활용하였다. 김씨 부인은 ‘감수성을 자극하거나 인정에 호소하는 방식보다는 ‘입증’과 ‘논리 적인 설득’을 선호하였다. 1차 상언에서는 혐의를 해소하고 신뢰감을 확보하며 설 득의 기반을 마련하였고 당대 사회의 가장 중요한 유교 가치와 여성으로서의 임무 등의 전제를 들거나 역사적 사건을 예증으로 삼아 논거를 제시하였다. 또한 사건 을 축소하여 진술함으로써 문책을 피하고자 하였다. 2차 상언에서는 과거의 환기 와 동일화의 기법을 통해 임금이 이전의 판단을 유지하고 자신의 문제로 인식하도 록 유도했으며, 구체적인 날짜와 거리, 증인을 들어 사건을 증명하고 논박의 수사 적 방법을 활용하였다. 두 상언의 전체적인 구성은 ‘집중’과 ‘배제’의 원칙을 지켜 혐의와 문책을 줄이는 방법을 택하고 있다. 김씨 부인은 여성, 노인, 적몰된 가문의 家母라는 소외되고 약자인 자신의 상황 에 대한 신세 한탄이나 약함을 드러내어 감정에 호소하기보다 입장을 해명하기 위 해 논거에 충실한 글쓰기 전략과 수사적 특징을 활용하여 설득의 글쓰기 목적을 완벽하게 수행하였다고 할 수 있다. 김씨 부인의 상언과 정치적 참여는 당대는 물 론 이후 노론계 여성을 비롯하여 조선 여성의 정체적 형성에 영향을 주었을 것으로 보인다.
