The purpose of this study is to examine the reliability and validity of children’s peer relationship and the features by constructing peer relation adjective scale based on interpersonal circumplex model. First, this study drew 128 preliminary items by selecting adjectives that reflect features of peer relationship and items of other previous inventory of peer relationship based on circumplex model; the author and three elementary school teachers sorted the selected items into each octant of peer relationship. The author analyzed data collected from 256 elementary school students to examine circumplex location of preliminary items or angular location; based on the result, the author drew the 2nd preliminary items composed of 88 items, 11 items per octant. To ultimately construct and validate the peer relation adjective scale, the author collected data by conducting a test with the 2nd preliminary items, targeting 1,039 elementary school students in 4th to 6th grade from five elementary schools in Gyeongnam. After fact-analyzing the collected data, the author distributed the items on control axis and affiliation axis, which are assumed as the two most basic axes in interpersonal circumplex model. In addition, after converting the factor loadings of each item to locations of interpersonal peer relation space in two dimensions (angular locations and lengths), the author studied which octant each item belongs to in the interpersonal circumplex model based on theoretical angular locations. With the results the author constructed peer relation adjective scale for children, which consists of 64 total items (8 items per octant), considering item-total correlation, internal consistency and meaning of the items. Subsequently, the author reviewed the reliability and validity of the final scale. as the result of calculating the correlation with various validity indexes, the convergent and discriminant validity was good. Finally, the limits and further discussion of this study are suggested.

이 연구는 대인관계 원형모델에 근거하여 아동의 교우관계 성향과 특징을 측정하기 위한 교우관계 형용사 척도를 구성하여 그 신뢰도와 타당도를 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 먼저 원형모델에 근거해서 제작된 기존의 다른 교우관계문제 검사의 문항과 교우관계 특징을 반영하는 형용사를 선별하여 128개 예비문항을 도출하였고, 도출한 문항을 본 연구자와 3명의 초등교사가 8개의 교우관계 분원별로 배정하였다. 각 분원별로 배정한 예비문항의 원형위치 또는 각도를 알아보기 위해 초등학생 256명에게 수집한 자료를 분석하였고, 그 결과를 바탕으로 각 분원별로 11문항씩 총 88문항의 2차 예비문항을 도출하였다. 교우관계 형용사 척도를 최종적으로 구성하고 타당화하기 위해 경남지역에 소재하고 있는 5개 초등학교에 재학 중인 4∼6학년 1,039명을 대상으로 2차 예비문항을 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 대인관계 원형모델에서 가정하고 있는 두 가지 축인 통제와 친애 요인에 대한 각 문항의 요인 부하량을 2차원의 대인관계 공간에서의 위치(각도와 길이)로 전환한 후, 이론적 각도에 비추어 각 문항이 대인관계 원형 모델에서 어떤 분원에 속하는지를 알아보았다. 그리고 이러한 결과와 더불어 문항-전체 상관, 내적 합치도, 문항의 의미 등을 고려하여 각 영역 별로 8문항씩 최종 64문항의 아동용 교우관계 형용사 척도를 구성하였다. 척도의 내적 합치도, 검사-재검사 신뢰도, 수렴 및 변별타당도가 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 이 연구의 제한점과 향후 연구방향에 대해 논의하였다.
