The purpose of this study is to investigate Chuang-tzu from a perspective of counseling and to get some practical counseling insight from Chuang-tzu philosophy. Chuang-tzu's content can provide abundant creative ideas in line with counseling approach, because the key storytelling method of Chuang-tzu is fables which give the readers the freedom to interpret the stories in their own way. Various content were categorized, and the associations among them were determined and reinterpreted from a counseling perspective. To be determined more easily the counseling components and meaning inherent in Chuang-tzu’s content, I explained and associated each chapter title of Chuang-tzu’ book with counseling. And I discussed The counselor Chuang-tzu and characteristics of Chuang-tzu counseling. To be specific, That can be include counseling as change and growth, a counselor as a client, counseling of unity between one and object, counseling as adaptation and evolution, counseling as discovery, counseling as sympathy, counseling for self-purification. and counseling for nature itself remained intact.

이 연구의 목적은 장자(莊子)의 철학과 그의 사상이 담겨 있는 책「장자」를 상담학적 의미로 재해석함으로써 장자 상담의 면모와 다양한 특징들을 밝히고 현대 상담에 도움이 될 수 있는 장자 상담의 이론적 토대를 제시하는 것에 있다. 책「장자」의 주된 이야기 방법인 우화(寓話)는 그 특성상 읽는 사람들에게 제각각 나름대로의 이야기로 해석할 수 있는 자유로움을 가지고 있는 매력을 가지고 있기 때문에 상담학적 접근이라는 방향성만 유지한다면 무궁무진한 상담적 요소를 제공하는 충분한 자료가 될 수 있다는 점을 활용하여 기존의 문헌연구와 선행연구를 바탕으로 다양한 자료들을 같은 맥락이나 동일한 범주로 묶어 상담적 연관성을 밝히고 새롭게 재해석 하였다. 책 장자가 지닌 상담학적 의미를 보다 명료하게 드러내기 위해 책 장자의 편명(篇名)을 상담과 관련지어 설명하였고 상담자로서 장자의 모습과 함께 장자 상담의 특징으로 변화와 성장의 상담, 서로가 상담자이자 청담자인 상담, 물아일체의 상담, 치언의 상담, 발견의 상담, 공감의 상담, 자정을 위한 상담, 무위를 위한 상담 등을 논의하였다.
