The Korean Coast Guard officers are in unique occupational environment as the ocean and the ship, so they experience high occupational risks. Therefore, the leadership is very important for communication and cooperation among Korean Coast Guard officers. In this study, to explain what kind of leadership style is needed for new Korean Coast Guard organization, analyze the effect of the leadership style of Korean Coast Guard officers on the organizational effectiveness. For this reason, this study conducted literature review for relevant theories and multiple ordinary least squared regression analysis. The result of analysis showed that transformational leadership and consideration leadership are not related to organizational effectiveness. Only transactional leadership is related to responsiveness, efficiency, and effectiveness. And each relationships have positive effects on organizational effectiveness. Therefore, Korean Coast Guard should amplify the transactional leadership to achieve the missions and goals of the organization.

해양경찰은 해양과 함정이라는 특수한 근무환경에 처해 있기 때문에 직무위험성 이 높고 그에 따라 조직원간의 유기적인 협동과 의사소통이 필요한 점을 고려하면 리더십이 매우 중요한 요소임을 알 수 있다. 따라서 이 연구는 해양경찰의 조직과 임무의 대대적인 변화를 맞아 새로운 해양경찰 조직에 적합한 리더십 형태가 어떤 것인지 알아보고자 한다. 이러한 연구목적을 위하여 변혁적 리더십과 거래적 리더십, 배려적 리더십 등 각각의 리더십이 조직효과성의 세가지 요소에 미치는 영향에 대해 회귀분석을 통해 검증을 시도하였다. 연구결과 대응성, 능률성, 효과성에 대하여 거 래적 리더십만이 영향을 주었으며, 다른 유형의 경우 통계적으로 유의미하지 않은 결과를 보였다.
