This thesis is a paper studying about the contents and characteristics of the articles of Chung-eui-boo in Shinhanminbo, which was the voice of Dae-han-in-gook-min-hoe. In this, first I reviewed the frequency and source of the articles of Chung-eui-boo. Second, I analyzed these by types. Third I investigated the tone of the articles. The number of the articles of Chung-eui-boo inserted in Shinhanminbo is near one hundred. In this point, It is for sure that Shinhanminbo payed a lot of attention to Chung-eui-boo. Korean- americans of Dae-han-in-gook-min-hoe run more the articles of Chung-eui-boo than Cham-eui-boo and Shin-min-boo in Shinhanminbo. Because Korean-americans of Dae-han-in-gook-min-hoe were from Pyeong-an-do by the large as the member of Chung-eui-boo. They had something in common that they were from Pyeong-an-do. Shinhanminbo got the source of the articles of Chung-eui-boo from Daedongminbo, Chunwoo(Fellow Soldier), Doklipsinmoon(Independence Paper), correspondents of Manchuria, and Dongailbo. Though Shinhanminbo reported the accidents 40~60days late compared with the source paper, sometimes it reported accidents more concrete and correct than Dongailbo. The articles of Chung-eui-boo in Shinhanminbo are classified to five categories, organization and personnel matters of Chung-eui- boo, collection of the sinews of war and the an army for national independence, killing of Japanese officers and pro-Japanese collaborators, and unitive activities as national single party movement. Seen by percentage, the first is the articles of collection of the sinews of war and the an army for national independence. The second is the articles of killing of Japanese officers and pro-Japanese collaborators, the third is the articles of unitive activities as national single party movement. Shinhanminbo represented member of Chung-eui-boo brave and generous, and Japanese officers stupid and brutal. And Shinhanminbo insinuated that Chung-eui-boo wielded strong influence over the Korean Peninsula. Finally, Shinhanminbo emphasized unification of Korean peoples and parties. In conclusion, Shinhanminbo tried to infuse patriotism into the heart of Koren-american by reporting patriotic activities of Chung-eui-boo members. And Shinhanminbo yearned for Independence of Korea through unification of Korean peoples, including Korean-americans, by publishing the articles of the unitive activities of Chung-eui-boo and its’ members.

이 글은 미주에서 발간된 대한인국민회의 기관지『신한민보』가 정의부에 대해서 보도한 내용과 그 특징에 대해서 살펴본 글이다. 먼저『신한민보』의 정의부에 관한 기사의 빈도와 출처, 다음으로 『신한민보』의 정의부 관련 기사의 유형과 내용, 마지막으로 『신한민보』의 정의부 관련 기사의 논조와 특징에 대하여 살펴보았다. 『신한민보』는 정의부의 독립운동에 대하여 상당한 관심을 갖고 근 100회에 가까운 기사를 보도하였다. 특히『신한민보』는 1920년대 중후반 만주의 대표적 독립운동단체인 3부 중에서 의병계열인 참의부보다 애국계몽운동계열인 정의부와 신민부에 더 관심을 가졌고, 두 단체 중에서 상대적으로 평안도 지역 출신이 많고 활동도 더 활발하였던 정의부에 각별한 관심을 나타내었다. 이는 1920년대 북미대한인국민회의 구성원들이 대체로 안창호를 지지하는 평안도계열의 인사로 구성되었던 것과 관계가 있다. 『신한민보』는 정의부에 관한 정보를 정의부의 기관지인 『대동민보』와 『전우』, 대한민국임시정부의 기관지인 『독립신문』, 그리고 남만주와 중동선의 통신원으로부터 얻었다. 때로는 국내의 『동아일보』를 읽고 그 내용을 거의 전재하기도 하였다. 『신한민보』는 사건의 발생일로부터 20~40일, 때로는 두 달 후에 보도하기도 하였지만, 국내언론인 『동아일보』에 비해 상당히 구체적이고 정확한 사실을 보도하기도 하였다. 『신한민보』는 정의부의 조직과 인사, 군자금과 독립군 모집, 일제관헌과 친일파 처단, 통일적 활동과 민족유일당운동, 정의부원의 체포와 재판에 관한 사실을 보도하였다. 이 중에서 가장 중점을 갖고 보도한 것은 정의부원의 군자금과 독립군 모집 및 일제관헌과 친일파 처단에 대한 내용이었다. 다음으로 정의부의 통일적 활동과 그 일환으로서의 민족유일당운동도 상당히 여러 차례 비중 있게 다루어졌다. 『신한민보』는 정의부원의 군자금과 독립군 모집 및 일제관헌과 친일파 처단에 대한 기사에서 정의부원에 대해서는 대담과 용맹과 관대를, 일제관헌에 대해서는 무능과 잔혹과 비인륜성의 특징을 드러내 보였다. 또한 국내에 정의부의 통치력과 지배력이 미치고 있음을 보여주었다. 다른 한편 정의부의 조직을 남만 독립운동단체의 통일이란 관점에서 다루었고, 정의부와 제 단체와의 통일적 활동을 강조하였으며, 민족유일당운동을 민족의 대동ㆍ통일을 통해 대단결력을 형성함으로써 ‘독립’이란 대계획을 달성할 수 있는 방법이라고 주장하였다. 결론적으로 말해, 『신한민보』는 만주지역에서 무장투쟁을 벌이는 정의부의 투쟁성과 재정적 어려움과 정의부원의 희생을 재미한인에게 알려 이들의 민족의식을 고취하고, 이들로부터 독립운동자금을 모집하여 함께 독립운동을 전개하고자 하였다. 그리고 정의부의 통일적 활동과 민족유일당운동을 소개함으로써 분열되어 있는 미주한인사회의 단합을 이루고 미주의 한인들이 대동단결하여 독립운동을 전개하기를 희망하였던 것이다.
