Recently People expect a high level of the police, and increasingly complex environment. If the police take appropriate actions in these environment, police officers should be analyzed and determined about a given situation in front of them. and police officers always have to have a critical thinking for them. In this study, I analyzed the level of the critical thinking of four-year-course university students majoring in police science as future police officers. The results are as follows: First, the higher the grade is shown that critical thinking ability is lowered. Second, critical thinking disposition of high-ranked grade students is higher than low-ranked grade students. Third, critical thinking ability of four-year-course university students majoring in police science is lower than general university students. On the other hand, critical thinking disposition of four-year-course university students majoring in police science is higher than general university students. Fourth, the correlation between critical thinking ability and critical thinking disposition showed a relationship between positive(+) at inference ability(critical thinking ability) and intellectual passion · a temper of healthy doubt.

국민이 경찰에 기대하는 수준이 높아지고, 점점 복잡해지는 환경에서 우리 경찰이 적합한 행동을 취하려면, 각각의 경찰 앞에 주어진 상황에 대한 철저한 분석과 판단이 필요할 것인데, 이를 위해서는 항상 비판적 사고를 견지해야 할 것이다. 이 연구에서는 미래의 경찰관으로서 경찰이 되기 위해 준비하고 있는 경찰학 전공 대학생의 비판적 사고수준이 어느 정도인지에 대하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 경찰학 전공 대학생의 일반적 특성에 따른 비판적 사고력은 학년이 높을수록 비판적 사고력이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 경찰학 전공 대학생의 일반적 특성에 따른 사고성향을 분석한 결과를 보면, 상위권 성적의 학생이 하위권 성적의 학생보다 비판적 사고성향이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 경찰학 전공 대학생의 비판적 사고력은 일반 대학생에 비교하여 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 반면 비판적 사고성향은 일반 대학생에 비교하여 높은 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 경찰학 전공 대학생의 비판적 사고력과 비판적 사고성향 간의 상관관계는 추론력(비판적 사고력)과 지적열정과 건전한 회의성(비판적 사고성향)에서 정(+)의 관계를 나타내고 있었다. 나아가 이 연구결과를 바탕으로 경찰학 전공 대학생의 비판적 사고 함양을 위한 교육과정의 필요성을 주장하였다.
