This study is aimed at developing effective educational programs for kindergarten teachers to enhance their multicultural competencies. Also, this study is intended to identify the changes in their multicultural knowledge, skills, and attitudes by applying the developed educational program to kindergarten teachers to enhance their multicultural competencies. First, 380 kindergarten teachers working in Gyeonggi province and Incheon metropolitan areas were surveyed with questionnaires containing 40 questions to identify their needs, which is necessary for developing educational programs for enhancing the multicultural competencies of kindergarten teachers. Second, questionnaires for effect analysis consisting of 41 questions on multicultural knowledge, skills, and attitudes were created through 12 subjects, which were obtained through a needs analysis. Third, 27 kindergarten teachers in the experimental group and another 27 in the comparative group took a pre-test before applying the program. The educational program was applied to the experimental group 12 times. The research findings on development and effects of the educational program for kindergarten teachers to enhance their multicultural competencies are as follows. First, there are a total of 12 contents of the educational program for enhancing multicultural competencies. The education time and method for applying the program is 90 minutes (lectures, discussion, and audio-visual education) per session during the week a total of 12 times. Second, post-test scores on overall multicultural competencies, knowledge, skills, and attitudes were significantly higher than those of the pre-test, which was taken after applying the program.

이 연구는 유치원교사의 다문화역량 강화를 위하여 교육프로그램을 개발한 후, 이를 적용하여 유치원교사의 다문화역량, 즉 다문화지식, 다문화기술, 다문화 태도에 대한 변화 과정을 알아보고자 하였다. 교육프로그램 개발을 위해 경기도 및 인천광역시에 근무하는 유치원 교사 380명을 대상으로 설문지와 6명을 대상으로 심층면담을 통해 요구조사를 실시하였다. 요구분석 결과로 얻어진 12개 교육내용을 바탕으로 총 41개 문항의 효과분석 설문지를 제작하였고, 실험집단 27명에게 1회 교육시간 90분을 기준으로 12차시에 걸쳐 교육프로그램을 적용한 후 다문화지식, 기술, 태도의 변화 정도를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유치원교사의 다문화역량 강화 교육프로그램 개발을 위하여 12개 교육내용(다문화지식 4개, 다문화기술 5개, 다문화태도 3개)을 도출하였다. 둘째, 교육 프로그램 적용효과를 분석한 결과 다문화역량 강화를 위한 다문화지식, 다문화기술, 다문화태도에 있어서 사후검사 점수가 유의한 정도로 높게 나타났다.
