In this study, the researchers focusd on the process in which each of the young children gets accustomed to outdoor play in the forest, and analyze materials. The result of the study shows that young children living in apartments in new towns are not accustomed to outdoor play in the forest from the start, but understanding and consideration on the part of the teachers and the institutes are necessary for the young children to become used to outdoor play. Concerning outdoor play in the forest, there are children who are getting used to it, starting from static activities near the classrooms; children who are concentrated on the relationships in which they can play with their friends; children who are getting used to it by concentrating on wild physical activities; and children who are satisfied with stimuli by which they can look for, and find out, something. And the young children of three years of age showed positive reactions to the outdoor activities in the forest from the start, so that no psychological conflicts were found. Based on the result of the study, it is suggested that when you start outdoor play in the forest first, it is desirable to plan education so that it may be made near the classrooms, and dynamic and static activities may all be prepared and fully explored, while the consideration of the teachers are needed who will sensitively respond to the thoughts and feelings of each and every child.

이 연구는 각각의 유아들이 숲에서의 실외놀이에 익숙해져 가는 과정에 집중하여 자료를 분석하였다. 이 연구의 결과 신도시 아파트에 거주하는 유아들이 숲에서의 실외놀이를 처음부터 모두 다 익숙하게 생각하고 있는 것은 아니며 유아들이 숲에서의 실외놀이에 익숙해지기까지는 교사와 기관의 이해와 배려가 필요하다는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 숲에서와 교실에서 모두 즐겁고 안정적인 활동을 하게 되는 것이 홀리스틱적 교육의 관점에서 만물과 전 연관된 완성된 적응으로 볼 수 있다. 숲에서의 실외놀이는 교실과 가까운 곳에서 정적인 활동부터 익숙해져 가는 모습을 보이는 유아들, 친구와 함께 놀 수 있는 관계에 집중하는 유아들, 거친 신체활동에 집중하여 익숙해져 가는 유아들, 무엇인가를 찾고 발견할 수 있는 자극에 만족하는 유아들이 있었으며, 만 3세 유아들은 숲에서의 실외활동에 대해서 처음부터 긍정적인 모습으로 심리적 갈등상황을 발견할 수 없었다. 이 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 처음 숲에서의 실외놀이를 실시할 때에는 가까운 곳에서, 동적인 활동과 정적인 활동을 모두 준비하며, 충분히 탐색할 수 있는 교육계획이 이루어지는 것이 바람직하며, 유아들 한 명 한 명의 생각과 감정에 민감하게 반응하는 교사의 배려가 필요함을 시사한다.
