The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of students and teachers who joined school sports club competitions. For this purpose, participants consisted of four teachers (home teachers 2, PE teacher, and soccer coach) and five students with purposeful sampling who took part in sports competition of B elementary school. The researcher planed and operated the tournament directly. Data were collected from in-depth interviews, participant observation and documentation. The collected data were analyzed by using the NVivo 10.0 program in process of transcription, coding, and theme formation. As a result, it analyzed a total of 167 raw data and ‘Apart and closer’, ‘I am expert’, ‘View back’ three themes were found. ‘Apart and closer’ contained the experiences away with friends because of a mistake, away with game room for practicing competition and closer friends and exercise through competition. ‘I am expert’ was experiences about finding the best player of the soccer coach and feeling the mood of being class representative to students. ‘View back’ was about suggestions of teacher who told sports club competition was better than sports day, of students who said league is better than tournament. The proposals based on the findings are that holding a sports club competition is more important than making a sports club and register students in the club. It is necessary to consider the application of sport education model, one of the curriculum models.

이 연구는 초등학교의 교내 스포츠클럽대회에 참여한 교사, 학생들의 경험을 탐색하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이 목적을 위해 D광역시에 위치한 B초등학교의 교내 스포츠클럽대회에 참여한 담임교사 2명, 체육부장교사, 학생 5 명, 축구전담코치 등을 연구참여자로 의도적 표집하였다. 연구자는 체육부장교사로서 대회를 계획하고 운영하는 과정에 직접참여하면서 나머지 연구참여자들을 대상으로 참여관찰을 하고 심층면담을 하였으며 관련 문서를 수 집하였다. 수집된 문서, 참여관찰 및 면담자료는 텍스트, 음성, 동영상 파일의 형태로 NVivo 10.0 프로그램에 입 력되고 연구자에 의해 귀납적으로 분석되었다. 연구결과, ‘멀어짐과 가까워짐’, ‘나도 전문가’, ‘돌아보기’ 등 3가지 의 주제로 분석되었다. ‘멀어짐과 가까워짐’에서는 대회에서 겪었던 실수로 친구와 멀어지고, 대회 참가를 위해 운동을 하면서 게임과 PC방과 멀어졌던 경험을 담고 있으며, 대회에 참여하면서 서먹한 친구관계가 가까워지고 운동에 더욱 적극성을 가지게 되는 경험도 담고 있다. ‘나도 전문가’에서는 이 대회가 축구전담코치에게 우수 선 수를 발굴하는 방법으로 의미가 있으며 학생에게는 대표의 기분을 만끽하는 기회가 되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. ‘돌아보기’에는 운동회대신 이 대회를 추진하자는 교사의 건의와 토너먼트보다는 리그로 바꾸자는 학생들의 의견 을 담고 있다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 스포츠클럽을 구성하고 학생들을 등록하는 것 뿐 아니라 학교 실정에 맞 는 학교스포츠클럽 대회를 실시하는 것이 매우 중요하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 그리고 초등 체육 교육과정을 스포 츠교육모형의 형태로 적용해 볼 필요가 있겠다.
