The purpose of this paper is to examine important intrinsic essence and value of economic education that helps to single out the most significant factors affecting human economic activity in economic life. Investigating the intrinsic essence and value of economic education in a resource-constrained world requires an understanding of the relationships of its numerous social elements. This paper introduces a novel whole-human economy analytical framework which harmonizes multiple aspects of economic education in human economic life. The instructional effects of general education in learning on economic literacy education are explored, and strategic values focusing on instructional model for economic education are discussed in depth to give key functional relationships among them. Economic education as a general education is a learning where functional real-life economic problems are used in order to provide opportunities to learners so as to reach the objectives which was covered in educational programs and to use critical thinking and life problem solving skills effectively. It is very important to consider how educational principles can best provide tools that leads to good economic literacy learning outcomes. The educational topic of economic literacy raises the issue of the potential role that might be played by education and quality information in improving economic decisions by individuals. This study's contribution is a finding that principles of general education learning are effective to improving learning outcomes and the attitude toward economic literacy education by reinforcing practicality in real-life economic decision making and self-motivated learning. This paper presents a critical review of the latest research assessing the link between intrinsic essence and value of economic education and human economic activities from different perspectives. General education helps learners develop critical thinking to solve problems, and this study has found positive effects of general education on long-term retention that were believed to be caused by the educational process, aiming to the development of lifelong economic literacy key-skills. It necessarily involves a pro-active approach that facilitates learners' involvement in learning, analysis of problematic economic situations or solving real life economic problems. The findings present us with the fact that economic literacy education has significant influence on learners' achievements at knowledge and comprehension level of their economic decision making.

본 연구는 인간과 사회의 경제행위와 경제적 의사결정에 대한 앎의 본질 적 속성을 탐색한 후 그것이 교양교육의 지평속에 어떻게 위치하고 있는지 고 찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 경제에 대한 앎은 자기 자신에 대한 생명유지와 존재유지에 대한 앎이요 지식이므로 삶의 주체성의 가장 중핵이라고 할 수 있 다. 인간이 존재하는 한 중단될 수 없는“ 경제하여야 함”에 대한 근원적 앎이 며 삶의 흐름과 연결되는 앎이다. 경제에 대한 앎은 자신의 삶을 책임감 있고 의미 있게 영위하는 지식과 이해의 추구이며, 이런 개인의 추구가 모여 공공선 을 달성할 수 있게 된다. 본 연구에서 교양교육의 본질적 속성속의 경제교육 이 갖는 가치가, 학습을 통해 내면화된 지식과 기능 그리고 태도라는 통합적 역량에 있으며 개인과 경제사회공동체의 기회비용을 줄이며, 기회비용을 고 려한 최적의 경제적 의사결정을 가능케 하는 근원적 의의를 가지는 교육임을 고찰하였다. 또한 본 연구를 통해 경제에 대한 앎과 교육은 자신의 삶을 책임 감 있고 의미 있게 영위하는 지식과 이해의 추구이며, 이런 개인의 추구가 모 여 공공선을 달성할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 경제에 대한 교육은 우리의 삶의 영위에 대한 통찰의 영역이며 삶을 통찰하는 앎의 형성이 인간으로서의 역동 적인 삶이 되게 하고자 하는 교양교육이다. 이러한 경제와 삶에 대한 교육은 경제차원을 넘어서는 사회내 상호작용 및 사회유지를 위한 중요한 토대로서의 기능을 한다.
