The great works of Julio Cortázar have been considered as ‘something incomprehensible’ by not only the general readers but also by many of the Hispanic American Literature specialists. This is due to the fact that the thematic meaning that the author insinuates throughout the text cannot be easily perceived. Most of hisworks are generally classified and categorized as fantastic literature. However, his messages cannot be fully decrypted in theories or traditional concepts in the field of fantastic literature. Generally speaking, the traditional fantastic idea is based on a fundamental schemewhere a supernatural incident interrupts (the inexplicable, impossible or abnormal) in the real world and generates a conflict or struggle between the natural and the supernatural world (the real and the unreal, otherwise the rational and the irrational). Nonetheless, in the works of Cortázar, these traditional fantastic genre characteristics do not appear. Therefore, contrasting points of view are needed to understand the works of Cortázar by applying a different theoretical resource. It can be essentially called ‘the neo-fantastic’, distinguished from the traditional fantastic. Sure enough this frame is not a new one since the termitself originated from the works of Cortázar. Actually, the term of ‘the neo-fantastic’ appeared for the first time in a research text in the work “En busca del Unicornio: Los cuentos de Julio Cortázar”, written by Jaime Alazraki. This study aims to improve the new understanding and to offer another interpretation to Cortázar’s readers. Concurrently, it presents theories of Alazraki’s ‘the neo-fantastic’ in relation with an approach of Nietzsche’s metaphor concept, which is also different from the traditional Aristotelian metaphor. For the case studies, this research examined two of the best-known stories of the author, “Carta a una señorita en París” and “Casa tomada”.

일반 독자들은 물론 일부 라틴아메리카 문학 전공자들에게까지 훌리오 꼬르따사르의 작품은 의미가 쉽게 포착되지 않는 ‘난해한 문학’으로 인식되고 있다. 그의 작품들은 대부분 ‘환상문학’의 장르적 범주로 분류되지만, 전통적인 환상문학적 이론과 세계관으로는 그 의미가 해독되지 않는다. 전통적인 환상성이란 일상적인 ‘현실세계’에 ‘초자연적’인(설명불가능한, 혹은불가능하거나 비정상적인) 요소가 개입함으로써 야기되는 자연/초자연, 현실/비현실, 이성/비이성적 질서의 갈등과 충돌을 서사의 기본구도로 삼고 있는데, 꼬르따사르의 작품에는 이와 같은 전통적인 환상성의 장르적 특징들이 보이지 않는다. 따라서 꼬르따사르의 문학을 이해하기위해서는 소위 ‘신환상성’이라는 -환상성과는 다른- 이론적, 세계관적 접근이 필요하다. 물론이 프레임은 전혀 새로운 것이 아니다. 신환상성이라는 용어 자체가 꼬르따사르의 작품에서 비롯된 것이기 때문이다. 이 용어는 1983년 하이메 알라스라끼가 펴낸 작가에 대한 연구서 『유니콘을 찾아서: 훌리오 꼬르따사르의 단편들』에서 처음으로 언급된 것으로 알려져 있다. 알라스라끼는 꼬르따사르 작품의 내용과 형식에서 전통적인 환상성과 구분되는 이른바 ‘신환상성’의개념을 정초(定礎)한 후, 이를 하나의 미학적 개념으로 제시하였다. 이 논문은 알라스라끼의 신환상성의 이론, 특히 아리스토텔레스적 메타포와 구분되는 니체적 메타포의 개념을 중심으로꼬르따사르 문학세계에 대한 이해를 도모하기 위한 것이다. 분석 텍스트로는 작가의 가장 널리알려진 두 편의 단편인 「파리의 아가씨에게 보내는 편지」와 「점거된 집」을 대상으로 하였다.
