The french police systems is also the historical heritage. Especially the municipal police systems helped many implications to make born Jeju province municipal police in Korea. France has typical police system history. The Gendarmerie had been born before National Police was emerged. And for Police law, the Gendarmerie has that law in advance in 18 century. The National Police has began his development from 20C. If 2 Koreas are united , the combat police can be very useful for border guarding, coast guarding and social turbulance suppressing. Gendarmes of France are military but do the general police works. And they can do what the mayor requests to do in rural area. Korean combat police can absorb many army officers, their equipment facilities and can do like french gendarme, policing in rural places, handle difficult works such as urban riots after the reunification of the 2 Koreas. French people’s characters are similar to those of Korean people. So we can import many french police systems and can infilterate them in korean systems easily. Those researches have to be done to improve Korean police systems.

프랑스의 경찰제도는 프랑스의 역사적 산물이라고 할 수 있다. 특히, 프랑스의 자치경찰제도는 우리나라 제주특별자치도의 자치경찰을 태생시키는데 많은 시사 점을 준 제도이다. 프랑스는 독특하게도 군인경찰제도가 먼저 생기고 관련법도 먼 저 제정되어 명실상부한 국가경찰제도로 발전했고, 내무부 국립경찰은 20세기 들 어와서 본격적으로 발전하기 시작했다. 통일 이후의 국경수비, 해안경계, 사회적 혼란 수습 등에서 우리의 전투경찰의 효용은 아주 클 것이다. 프랑스의 군인경찰 은 신분이 군인이면서도 일반경찰 임무를 수행하고, 시골지역에서 경찰임무 외에 도 시장이 요청하는 임무를 수행할 수 있다. 우리의 전투경찰도 통일 이후에는 많 은 군인과 장비 및 시설을 흡수하여 프랑스의 군인경찰과 같이 시골지역의 치안, 도심지의 폭동 등 위험한 임무에 투입하도록 해야 할 것이다. 이러한 점을 염두에 두고 프랑스 경찰제도를 살펴보았다.
