The news photos are the media that havean intention based on the visual language. Thenewspaper articles produce meaning andexchange incident issues through the linguistictexts, and the news photos do with visualtexts. The previous study of the news photosfocused on the correlation between linguistictexts and visual texts, and in the aspect ofvisual texts, it showed a tendency as limitingto the analysis of mechanical abbreviation bythe camera. This is because images havecharacteristics of wide and vague spectrum ofinterpretation, unlike that of the language. This study includes the news photos tothe linguistic range as it purposes to transferthe message, and purposes to analyze imagesin grammatical aspect eventually by designingthe analysis frame to extract visual types ofthe news photos as assuming the visual typesmay be hidden under the linguistic rules. Thestudy range was limited to the news photoswith the topic of ‘danger’, and it designedthe final analysis frame including thecharacteristics of the news photos afterdesigning and adapting the hypothesizedanalysis frame(topological, color, formativerange)with the formative contrast of theexpressive level which lean on the Floch`sVisual Semiotics to have an attempt onformative structure analysis of visual texts. The result of the study confirmed that thenews photos with the topic of danger could beformalized through the correlation betweencomposition and color of images, and topic ofthe news.

보도사진은 의도를 가진 시각적 언어를 기반으로하는 매체이다. 신문기사는 언어 텍스트를 통해, 보도 사진은 비주얼 텍스트를 통해 사건·사안의 의미를생산하고 교환한다. 기존의 보도사진 연구는 언어적 텍스트와 비주얼 텍스트의 상관성에 집중해 왔으며,비주얼 텍스트 측면에서는 주로 카메라에 의한 기 계적 약호 분석에 한정된 경향을 보여 왔다. 언어와는달리 이미지는 해석의 스펙트럼이 넓고 모호한 측 면의 특성이 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 보도사진 또한 내용전달을 목적으로 하는 까닭에 언어범주에 포함되며, 시각적 유형 또한언 어의 규칙 속에 잠재되어 있을 것으로 가정하고 보도사진의 시각적 유형추출을 위한 분석틀을 설계해 궁극적으로는 문법적 차원의 이미지 분석을 목적으로한다. ‘위험’주제 재난 보도사진으로 연구범위를 한정하였으며, 비주얼 텍스트의 조형적 구조 분석을 시도하 기 위해 플로슈의 조형이론에 기대어 표현층위의조형적 대조를 가이드라인으로 가설적 분석틀(위상,색 채, 형태범주)을 설계하여 적용한 후, 보도사진의특성을 포함한 최종 분석틀을 설계하였다. 연구의 결 과, 위험주제 보도사진은 이미지의 구도와 색채 그리고 보도의 주제의 상관관계를 통해 유형화 할 수 있 음을 검증하였다.
