This paper aimed to clarify satire and humor in Korean and Indonesianpostwar novel trough a reading of Hwang Sunwon and Nugroho's works. The study of satire in Korean literature represented by the work of ChoeMansik, 1930's famous writer. In this paper I suggest a new perspective, tothe comical story of Hwang Sunwon's postwar novel. This is by looking tothe definition of satire "the use of fool or ridicule to expose human stupidity"and to the function of satire in Korean literature; didactic and pleasure. This study focused on Hwang Sunwon and Nugroho due to comical storyviewed by their postwar works. With the time backdrop similarity, not onlythe condition of the society could be seen, but also the writers opinion ofwar. The method using in this paper is descriptive qualitative. Theconclusion of the study is that the comical story viewed in both writer'spostwar works show different tone; didactical through bitterness on HwangSunwon and deals with local color to show the reality on Nugroho. But theworks show the similarity, the comical story used is as one way to overcomethe hard life after war.

본 연구는 한국과 인도네시아 전후소설에서 나타난 풍자와 해학 요소를 확인하고자 황순원과 누그로호 작품을 중심으 로 분석하는 것이다. 한국문학에 있어 풍자나 해학은 흔히 1930년대에 제기 되어 있다. 특히 풍자적인 잘 알려진 작품 은 1930년대 최만식이 쓰인 작품만은 분석하는 경향이다. 그러나 풍자란 ‘인간의 어리석은 행위를 조롱하기 위해 각각 다른잡다하게 다룬 것’ 의미로, 또는 한국문학에서 풍자가 교훈과 쾌락 기능과함께 포괄하는 요소로 보면 황순원 전후 소설에서 나타난 우스운 이야기도 포함되지 아닐까 싶다. 본 연구는 인도네시아의 누그로호 작가와 비교하는 이유는 황순원처럼그의 전후소설에서도 우스운 이야기가 잘 나타 나 있다. 유사한 시대배경과 함께 한국과 인도네시아 전후소설에서 사회적 상황을 엿볼 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 두 작가 의 전쟁과 관한 생각을 비교할 만한 일이다. 전후소설에서 나타난 웃음 이야기를 검토하기 위하여 서술적 질적 방법을 이용하는것이다. 두 작가의 작품에서 웃음 요소를 통해 어려움을 벗어나려고 하는목표로 공통점을 지닌다는 결론으로 내린다.
