Project Estimation Software Is Your Secret Weapon. Project managers face a high stakes game every time they are called upon to prepare proposals, cost estimates, project plans, and resource plans for upcoming projects. They are pushed by opposite pressures from stakeholders who want to hear the good news that their plans will yield on-time, on-budget, successful results - and that this good news is firmly tethered to reality. Cost estimation accuracy is limited, even for long-tenured project managers’, by their tools, experience, the quality and relevance of data they can access and apply - yet they are the first to bear the brunt of a project’s failure. Better project outcomes are possible by using a reliable, simple way to estimate project costs before starting the project and be able to track how well the project’s progress aligns with its plan. This white paper will explore the deployment and usage of estimation software so that: effective resource requirements can be identified, project assumptions can be adjusted prior to initiation, and progress monitoring is tracked to ensure the project is sticking to the plan. Firstly, the return of software project failure is very significant for the future. Secondary, embracing formal software estimation is important to overcome the failure. Thirdly, new way for project cost, effort, and duration planning shall be presented.

프로젝트 매니저는 사업제안서 작성, 사업예산 추정, 및 필요한 자원을 계획할 때 매 번 매우 심각한 딜레마에 봉착하게 된다. 왜냐하면 사업을 제기한 이해당사자로부터 초기 요구사항을 충족시키는 소프트웨어를 적기에, 적시에 그리고 주어진 예산으로 개발할 수 있을 것인가 하는 문제 때문이다. 따라서 사업관리자가 소프트웨어 프로젝트 추정 방법을 이해하고 계획하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문은 사업초기에 소프트웨어 계획수립을 위해 필요한 추정방법을 제시함에 그 목적이 있다. 효과적인 자원요구사항이 식별되며, 프로젝트 관련 가정 사항이 사업 시작 이전에 조정되고, 사업수행 시, 초기 계획에 따라 프로제트 진도를 모니터링 하는 방법을 제시한다. 이를 위해 먼저 소프트웨어 프로젝트 실패와 그 요인을 알아보며, 지금까지 수행되어 온 사업 추정방법을 알아 본 다음, 프로젝트 비용, 노력, 기간을 추정하여 계획하는 새로운 길을 소개하도록 하였고, 이에 따른 유익을 제시하고자 한다.
