This study is to analyze the current conditions of immigrant mission in the Korean church and articulate the role of Korean church for immigrants in changing multi-cultural Korean society. In 2014, Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs shows that the immigrant population in Korea is about 1,570,000 and it is 3.1% of the Korean population. A study anticipates that the immigrant population will be about 10% of the Korean population in 2050. Korean society is changing dramatically into multi-cultural society, and Korean church’s mission tasks for immigrant society ought to be seriously considered. Thus, this study articulates the current conditions of changing immigrant Korean society and the biblical understandings for migrants. For this, first, it will study the theoretical understandings of multi-cultural society, its biblical perspectives, and its importance for mission in the immigrant society. Second, it will do case study for Korean church mission for diverse immigrants. The research divided the study into four categories in large and visited total of 7 immigrant mission organizations to conduct case study. : 1) 3 private mission organizations, 2) 2 church affiliated organizations, 3) 1 SaeTeoMin mission center for North Korean detectors, and 4) mission case which stopped its work. The first category is the form of private mission organizations represented by J Love Sharing organization in Seoul and D Community Center in Daejeon. The second category is the form of church affiliated organizations represented by H church in Chungnam and O church in Seoul. The third category is the North Korean defectors mission organizations represented by N Mission in Seoul. Lastly, the fourth category is represented by the failure of immigrant mission of H church in Jeonbuk. Finally, This study suggested the Korean church’s role and direction in immigrant mission in terms of the dimension of education, in the dimension of mission based on the results. Also this study suggested the government and enterprises joint models, models of large churches, and models in denomination level to Korean churches as tasks.

본 연구는 한국의 다문화 사회 변화에 따른 한국교회의 선교실태를 분석하고 한국교회 이주민 선교의 역할과 방향성을 제시하고자 한다. 현대사회는 다문화 사회로 변하고 있다. 신자유주의 체제가 국제사회의 새로운 질서로 자리 잡으면서, 자본과 노동시장의 세계화와 함께 수많은 사람들을 해외로 진출시키는 이주의 시대가 되었다. 이를 통해 세계 곳곳의 국가와 도시는 급속도로 다문화 사회로 변모하고 있다. 한국의 경우, 2014년 1월 1일을 기준으로 외국인 주민의 수는 약 157만 명으로 조사되었다. 이는 우리나라 주민등록 인구의 3.1%를 차지하는 수치이며, 대전광역시나 광주광역시 인구보다도 더 많은 수치이다. 국토연구원의 보고에 의하면 2050년에는 외국인주민이 우리나라 전체 인구의 10%를 차지할 것이라고 한다. 앞으로 한국사회가 급속도로 다문화 사회가 될 것이라는 예측이 나오고 있는 가운데 다문화 사회 속에서 한국교회의 역할과 그 선교적 과제는 숙고되어야 할 것이다. 본 연구는 이러한 시대적인 흐름을 인식하여 다문화사회 변화에 관한 선행연구를 고찰하고, 한국 이주민선교 실태를 4가지 유형으로 나누어 사례연구를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 구성은 첫째, 다문화 사회의 개념이해와 성서적 관점의 이주민을 이론적으로 살펴볼 것이다. 한국사회의 다문화 사회 형성 배경과 이주민의 현황분포와 함께, 성서적 관점으로 이해하는 이주민과 그들을 위한 선교의 필요성을 기독교적 관점으로 논할 것이다. 둘째, 한국교회 이주민 선교 사례를 4가지 유형, 즉 1) 이주민선교기관, 2) 교회부설형태, 3) 새터민 선교기관, 4) 이주민 선교실패사례를 분석하였다. 마지막으로, 이주민 선교를 위한 한국교회의 과제를 선교적 차원과 역할, 교육적 차원의 과제, 정부 및 NGO 단체와 연합의 과제로 향후 방향성을 제시할 것이다.
