Relation exchange economics(RXE) stretches out the exterior boundary of economics into the territory of relation exchange(RX) activities in addition to the transaction of value exchanges in the market. The finding of sympathy-consent dimension(SCD) is a seminal contribution of 이성섭 (2012b) to the development of economics, which explores a path-breaking breakthrough in economics reasoning. The world of sympathy-consent dimension is built on the lacuna of rationality which essentially stems from limited capacity of human intelligence(Simon 1956). Sympathy-consent dimension of the RXE contrasts with the rationality dimension of Arrow-Debreu economics(ADE). With the augmentation of SCD, economics becomes provided with added analytical dimension in comparison with the case of ADE economics. The added analytical power due to the augmentation of SCD is awesome. It opens gateway to the world of open/indeterminate system which compares with closed/determinate system. The action of relation exchange is indeed specificity-building process of human behavior(Williamson 1975, 1985, 1986; Rhee 2014). Even before property rights become established in primitive life, human being learned to carry out exchange activities with others by building relation specificities. The fundamentality of relation exchange over value exchange indicates that the concurrent process of building relation specificity supersedes the action of value exchange in the market. The upshot is paradoxical result that the process of building relation specificities may possibly allow the excellence of cost-inefficient products over cost-efficient products. It is frequent observations in real life even though it is not allowed in the rationality dimension in ADE economics(Rhee 2014). All of these indicate the need for a fundamental makeover in economics. The establishment of RXE(이성섭 2012b) allows entirely new approach in economics, i.e. launch of RXE school in economics.

관계교환경제학(RXE)은 경제분석의 영역을 시장의 가치교환에서부터 관계교환의 영역으로 확장한다. 공감-동의 차원(SCD)의 발견(이성섭 2012b)은 경제학 분석의 새로운 지평을 여는 획기적 사건이다. 공감-동의 차원의 세계는 인간의 인지능력의 한계, 즉 제한된 합리성 (Simon 1956)에서 출발하고 있 다. 관계교환경제학의 공감-동의 차원은 애로-드브루 경제학(ADE)의 합리성 차원과 대비된다. 공감-동 의 차원을 추가함으로써 경제학은 그 이전과 전혀 다른 분석능력을 갖게 되며, 닫힌/결정적 시스템 분 석에서부터 열린/비결정적 시스템 분석의 영역으로 전환하게 된다. 관계교환행동은 관계인연성(relation specificity) 확보행동으로 윌리엄손의 인연성(specificity: Williamson 1975, 1985, 1986; Rhee 2014) 개념과 무관하지 않다. 재산권이 확립되지 못한 원시시대부터 인간은 관계인연성을 통하여 교환활동을 영위하는 법을 본능적으로 체득해왔다. 관계교환이 가치교환보다 더 근원적이라는 사실(이성섭 2012b) 은 관계교환행동과 동시적으로 진행되는 관계인연성 확보 행동이 시장의 가치교환보다 더 근원적임을 의미한다. 그 확장된 분석차원의 결과는 공감-동의 행동을 통해서 상대적으로 비용-비효율적 제품이 비용-효율적 제품보다 시장에서 경쟁적 우위에 설 수 있다는 역설적 현상을 설명 하는 분석논리를 가 능하게 한다. 사실 이런 역설적 현상은 생활주변에 비일비재하게 존재한다. 다만, 애로-드브루 경제학 에서만 그 가능성이 역설적으로 받아들여졌다고 볼 수 있다.
