- Students with disabilities are more vulnerable to school violence, but there has been few research on school violence involving this population. The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of school violence involving students with disabilities and related contextual variables in order to propose the directions for prevention and intervention of the violence. Twelve special education teachers participated in this qualitative study and in-depth individual interviews were used to collect data. Five themes emerged as a result of qualitative analyses: (1) backgrounds, (2) detection and phases, (3) resolution procedures, (4) the impacts of the violence incidents, and (5) dilemmas. Finally, the implications of the results for practices and policy and the directions for future research were discussed.
