Timothy J. Keller, the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York, is one of the most influential preachers of our day. Especially, Keller has been described as a ‘C. S. Lewis for 21st century’ and is widely recognized as a gifted preacher for preaching the gospel to post-modern audiences. Although his preaching definitely has some distinctive aspects of cultural contextualization, the real excellence and uniqueness of his preaching lies on the fact that how his conviction and vision for Christ-centered preaching is concretely embodied in a sermon for the people under the post-modern culture. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to examine and evaluate Keller’s preaching model, which he calls “A Christo-centeric, Triperspectival” hermeneutic for preaching. For Keller, a preacher should preach the gospel to the heart of the audience on a weekly basis. In order to accomplish his vision for Christ-centered preaching, Keller proposes that a preacher see a chosen text from the tri-perspectival perspectives (the normative, situational, and experiential perspectives). Accordingly, this paper discusses Keller’s hermeneutical process following each perspectival stage, providing the detailed explanation of hermeneutical methods and skills, which Keller employs for shaping up a christcentered exposition and application at the same time. Having explained Keller’s tri-perspectival hermeneutic for Christ-centered preaching, this paper also provides several advantages and disadvantages of Keller’s preaching model.

미국 뉴욕에 있는 리더머 장로교회를 설립한 Timothy Keller는 오늘날 가 장 영향력 있는 설교자 중의 한 명이다. 특별히 그는 21세기를 위한 C. S. Lewis로 불리며 포스트모던의 청중들에게 복음을 효과적으로 전달하는 설교 자로 유명하다. 분명 Keller의 설교에는 뛰어난 문화적 상황화의 측면도 있지 만, 그의 설교가 지닌 진정한 탁월성과 독특성은 그리스도 중심적 설교에 대한 그의 확신이 어떻게 포스트모던의 청중들에게 한 편의 설교로 구체화되는지에 놓여 있다. 이런 점에서 이 논문의 목적은 Timothy Keller의 설교 모델, 즉 그가 명명 한 그리스도 중심적, 삼중적 관점 (A Christo-centric, Tri-perspectival)의 설 교를 위한 해석학을 연구하며 평가하는데 있다. Keller가 추구하는 설교의 목 적은 모든 설교자들이 매주 청중의 가슴에 복음을 설교하는 그리스도 중심적 설교를 하는 것이다. 이 목적을 달성하기 위해서 Keller는 설교자가 본문을 대 할 때 삼중적 관점, 즉 규범적, 상황적, 실존적 관점으로 이해해야 한다고 주장 한다. 따라서 이 논문은 각 관점의 단계를 따라가며 Keller가 추구하는 해석의 목적과 전 과정을 설명한다. 더불어 그가 추구하는 그리스도 중심적 강해와 적 용이 담긴 설교를 구체화하기 위하여 Keller가 자주 활용하는 해석의 방법들 을 각 관점의 단계를 통하여 자세히 설명한다. 마지막으로 이 연구는 그리스도 중심적 설교를 위한 Keller의 삼중적 해석학에 대한 장단점을 평가한다.
