This paper is a study on "boredom" in Lee sang's essay through Chuang-tzu's idea of . Lee sang's literature is rated as the modernism in history of korean literature. The components of boredom is in his work that seems like it's indiscriminate. The boredom is not limited to only being bored but also the reason ofexistence like depression, anxiety and aeriality of life. The human's volition will be identified through the desire that is to free from the state of being bored. In this time, the individual freedom is started to important. Most of studies are looking for a concomitant feature in the occidental range analysis because Lee sang's literature has also a concomitant feature intensionally. The boredom is similar in human emotion both the Eastern and Western. But the geographical difference is clearly as the difference from the Eastern and Western. Chuang-tzu's idea of pursues mental free state that is self-subsisting( 忘我). Through that way, It emphasizes on the state of self-surrender which makes no distinction between the boundary of consciousness. The boredom in Lee sang's literature is akin to this. The imagination away from boundary is similar in Chuang-tzu's idea pursuant to Human freedom through the boredom, the state of self-surrender and idleness, theory of unreachable imprecision and paradox. Therefore this paper is a study on Idea of in Lee sang's essay from the boredom. But not all the factor of boredom is lost in his poem or novel. A reason for pick essay up between them is that this is less intentional techniques than other genre. This paper is not a study on boredom represented by modernity. According to that, this paper is a study on boredom in the oriental speculation system.

이 글은 이상의 수필에서 나타나는 “권태”를, 장자의 무위(無爲)사상을 통해 살펴보고자 하는 게 목적이다. 한 국 문학사에서 이상의 문학은 모더니즘으로 평가받고 있다. 권태도 그렇다. 무차별적인 것 같아 보이는 그의 작품을 가만히 살펴보면 권태의 요소가 자리잡고 있다. 권태의 사전적 의미는 “어떤 일이나 상태에 시들어져 서 생기는 게으름이나 싫증”이다. 인간의 감정에 있어 자연스러운 현상처럼 보이는 권태도 근대라는 시기에 등장했다. 권태와 비슷한 인간의 감정이 체계적으로 정립된 시기가 근대인 것이다. 권태는 단순히 지루한 감 정에만 한정되어 있는 것이 아니다. 우울과 불안, 삶의 공허와 같은 실존의 사유까지 연관되어 있다. 지루한 감정이나 상황을 벗어나고픈 욕구를 통해 인간의 자유의지를 확인하게 되는 것이다. 이는 개인의 자유가 중시 되기 시작한 근대라는 사회적 배경과도 관련이 있다. 근대적 산물이라고도 할 수 있는 권태를 동양적 사유의 관점에서 바라본다는 것은 자칫 무리일 수도 있겠다. 이상의 작품도 서구적 특성이 강하기에, 대부분의 연구도 서구의 분석 범위 안에 두고 공통점을 찾고 있다. 근 대 이후 권태가 지루한 감정이라는 점에서 인간이 지닌 공통된 정서라고도 볼 수 있다. 그러나 동양과 서양의 구분처럼 분명 지리적 차이는 존재한다. 권태가 인간의 공통된 점에서는 비슷하나, 그것을 수용하는 데에 있 어서는 서로 다른 양상을 보이고 있기 때문이다. 장자의 무위사상은 아무것도 의지하지 않는 정신적인 자유의 상태를 추구한다. 그 방법으로 의식의 경계를 구분하지 않는 망아(忘我)의 상태를 강조한다. 이상의 문학에서 나타나는 권태의 양상도 이와 유사하다. 권태를 통한 인간의 자유와 해방, 망아와 무위의 상태, 도달할 수 없 는 부정과 역설의 논리, 그에 따른 탈경계적 상상력이 어느 정도 장자의 사유와 비슷한 맥락을 지니고 있는 것 이다. 그래서 이 연구는 이상 수필에서 나타나는 무위사상을, 권태의 양상을 중심으로 살펴보고자 한다. 그의 시나 소설에서도 권태적인 요소가 아예 없는 것은 아니다. 그중에서도 수필을 선택한 이유는, 다른 장르에 비 해 의도적인 기법이 덜하기 때문이다. 이를 통해 모더니티로 대표되는 권태가 아닌, 동양적인 사유 체계 안에 서의 권태의 양상을 분석하고자 한다.
