This seems somewhat contradictory in terms of female consciousness. However, this is the Scholar-official who had enjoyed the Kokubun novels of the time and reflects the trend of women’s consciousness. However, women suffer the suppression of men because within the inner circle of the official scholar, patriarchal ideology is a dominant woman, and this reflects reality.

<황릉몽환기>는 역사 속 여성인물과 국문장편소설 <유효공선행록>의 여주 인공을 전면에 내세우고, 그녀들이 인간적인 비애를 토로하면서 당대 여성들의 슬픔을 어루만져 위로한다. 즉 慰撫의 夢遊錄으로서 여성의식을 드러내고 있는 것이다. 그러나 <황릉몽환기>는 또한 <유효공선행록>의 여성의식에 대해서는 비판적으로 패러디한다. 소설비평으로서 <황릉몽환기>는 가부장적 이데올로기 에 위배되는 극단적 내지 저항적 여성의식을 경계한다. 여성의식의 측면에서 <황릉몽환기>의 이원성은 다소 모순된다고 볼 수 있으나, 이는 당대 국문장편 소설을 향유하던 사대부가 여성들의 일반적인 의식성향 중 하나라고 할 수 있다. 남성의 억압을 받는 여성이면서 동시에 지배층의 일원이었던 사대부가 여성들 에게 가부장적 이데올로기의 내면화는 적극적으로 현실을 살아가는 방법의 일 환이었기 때문이다.
