The purpose of this study is to inquire as to whether or not a liberal science class on human nature based on evolutionary science can be used as part of education materials for a world view that integrates the natural and social sciences and sexual identity and for college students. To investigate this, the types of sexual identity and the acceptance of the evolutionary scientific world view by students participating in the class according to their sex, age, course, and religion were investigated before/after attending the class. The androgynous and masculine types of sexual identity were dominant in the male students. However, the undifferentiated and feminine types of sexual identity were dominant in the female students. After the students attended the class, the ratio of the androgynous type of sexual identity among them increased. Among the older male students, the ratio of the androgynous type of sexual identity increased and the ratio of the masculine type of sexual identity decreased. However, the changes in the sexual identity of the female students were not associated with age. The distribution of sexual identity of the male students who were majoring in the humanities/social sciences differed from that the male students who were majoring in natural/health sciences. Regardless of their major, the distribution of sexual identity of the female students was same. Still regardless of the students’ majors, the ratio of the androgynous type of sexual identity increased after the class. The distribution of sexual identity of the Atheist differed from that of the Christian students. After the class, the ratios of the Christian and Atheist androgynous types of sexual identity increased. The acceptance of the evolutionary scientific world view by the male students was greater than by the female students. The acceptance of the evolutionary scientific world view increased significantly in all the students after the class. The students who were majoring in natural/health sciences accepted the evolutionary scientific world view more than the students who were majoring in the humanities/social sciences. The Christians were more resistant to accepting the evolutionary scientific world view. In conclusion, the class featured in this study had positive effects on the formation of a world view that integrates natural and social sciences and sexual identity. Therefore, we found the liberal science class featured in this study appropriate as an educational vehicle for a world view that integrates natural and social sciences and sexual identity.

본 연구는 진화과학에 근거하여 인간본성의 탐구로 구성된 대학교양과학 수업이 자연과학과 사회과학을 통합하는 세계관과 성정체감 교육을 위한 교육과정으로 적합한지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 연구에 참여한 대학생들을 대상으로 수업 전/후 성, 나이, 전공, 종교에 따라 통합된 진화 과학적 세계관과 성정체감을 조사하였다. 남학생의 성정체감은 양성 형과 남성 형이 가장 많았으며 여학생의 성정체감은 미분화형과 여성 형이 가장 많았다. 수업 후 남녀 모두 양성 형이 증가하여 수업이 성정체감 변화에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 남학생의 성정체감은 나이가 증가하면서 양성 형이 증가하고 남성 형이 감소하는 경향이었으나 여학생의 성정체감은 나이와 연관이 없었다. 인문과학/사회과학 전공남학생의 성정체감과 자연과학/보건과학 전공남학생의 성정체감분포는 차이가 있었으며, 여학생은 전공에 구분 없이 미분화형과 여성 형이 가장 많았고 수업 후 남녀 모두 양성 형이 증가하였다. 무교학생과 기독교학생의 성정체감은 차이가 있었다. 수업 후 기독교와 무교학생 모두 양성 형이 증가하였으며 무교학생 보다 기독교학생에서 성 고정 관념적 성정체감 유형이 더 증가하는 경향이었다. 진화 과학적 세계관은 남학생이 여학생보다 유의하게 높았으며 나이, 성정체감에 따라 유의한 차이가 없었으며, 자연과학/보건과학 전공학생이 인문과학/사회과학 학생보다 더 높고 수업 후 남녀 모두 유의하게 증가하였다. 기독교학생은 수업 후 진화 과학적 세계관을 수용하는데 무교학생보다 더 저항적이었다. 이것으로 미루어 보아 진화과학에 근거하여 인간 본성의 탐구로 구성된 교양과학수업이 자연과학과 사회과학을 통합하는 세계관을 형성하고 성정체감 변화에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타나 이를 위한 교육과정으로 적합한 것으로 판단된다.
