Foreigners' settlement within Korea is on the rise, due toincrease in international migration into Korea according to globalization,and Korean society's entry into the multicultural society has become anirresistible social phenomenon, because of an increase in multiculturalfamilies through international marriage. Because multiracial and multiethnicphenonenon in the Korean society progresses with a fast speed for theshort-term, people face with changed social problems in reality withoutenough time for adequate theoretical discussions or social debates. Giventhat married immigrant women among the immigrants to the Koreansociety are to be Korean citizens, and their children will also enter themainstream society in the future, the policy for these is very important. This study aims to identify whether education for adaptation to theKorean society among the educational programs, conducted for marriedimmigrant women, other than the Korean language program, is helpfulfor their adaptation to the Korean society in reality. Specifically toresearch the effect of the programs for adaptation to Korean society, thisstudy carried out individual in-depth interviews targeting the marriedimmigrant women, who entered Korea for more than five years, receivededucation for the Korean language and for adaptation to the Koreasociety, and have been actively engaged in various jobs in Korea. Using the interview results, this study proposed what educational programs areactually needed for married immigrant women, and the need for appropriateprogram development. This study is meaningful in that the study results can be helpful to thedevelopment of step-by-step and systematic educational programs foradaptation to the Korean society, according to the married immigrantwomen's period of residing in Korea for Korean society integration, aswell as effective measures for them to adapt to the Korean society.

한국사회는 세계화에 따른 국제이주의 증가로 인해, 외국인의 한국 내정착이 증가하고 있고, 국제결혼을 통한 다문화가족의 증가로 다문화사회 진입은 거스를 수 없는 사회현상이 되었다. 또한 한국사회에서진행되고 있는 다인종, 다민족화 현상은 단기간에 빠른 속도로 진전되고 있어서 다문화사회에 대한 충분한 이론적 논의나, 사 회적 토론을할 여유 없이 변화된 사회문제에 직면하고 있는 것이 현실이다. 한편한국사회의 이민자 중 결혼여 성이민자들은 국민 됨을 전제로 하고 그들의 자녀들 또한 향후 주류사회로 진입할 것이므로 이들에 대한 정책 은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 결혼여성이민자들에게 실시하고 있는 교육프로그램 중 한국어교육 외에 시행되고 있는 한국사회 적 응교육이 실제 한국사회 적응에 도움이 되는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 이에 따라 한국사회 적응프로그램의 효과 를 구체적으로 연구하기 위해 입국한지 5년 이상 되었고,한국에 입국 후 한국어 및 한국사회 적응 교육을 받고, 한국 사회에서다양한 취업 활동을 활발히 하고 있는 결혼여성이민자들을 상대로 개별 심층 인터뷰를 실시하였 다. 인터뷰 결과를 바탕으로 결혼여성이민자들이 실질적으로 적응에 필요한 교육 프로그램이 무엇이며, 아울 러이에 적합한 프로그램 개발의 필요성을 제언하였다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해 결혼여성이민자들의 효과적인 적응 방안과 나아가 한국사회통합을 위하여 결혼여성이 민자들의 거주시기에 따라단계적이고 체계적인 한국사회적응 교육프로그램 개발에 도움이 되는데 의미를 두 고 있다.
