Study on the Ways to Resolve the IdentityIssue of Multi-Cultural Family - Focused on bilingual languageand culture education for multi-cultural children, Journal of theInternational Network for Korean Language and Culture 11-2,107-134. This study investigates the identity issue that femaleinternational marriage immigrants and their children experienceand suggests ways to resolve the issue. Focused on theeducation of the mother's language and culture by schools andlocal governments, the study suggests that early education ofbilingual language and culture education should be implementedas one of the ways to resolve the issue. Taking an actualsurvey, the study also argues that teaching mother's languageby the relatives of their mothers could be an effective way toenhance the identity of the children of multi-cultural family. Ifthe children get bilingual education by building good memorieswith their mothers' relatives from childhood, they cancommunicate with their mothers in their mother tongues whileexperiencing mild adolescence and grow to be an adult withpride and stable emotions. To resolve the identity issue of multi-cultural family, what isneeded first of all is a government policy on bilingual languageand culture education by mothers of international marriage immigrantcouples, text development for the teachers and distributionof the textbooks. In addition, the government needs to give aconsideration to a policy for the families of female international marriage immigrants. Only when we support the social value that embraces, understands, and sympathizes with the relativesof multi-cultural family, can their children have strength tobecome future prospects of Korea.

이 논문은 여성 결혼 이민자가 다문화 가정에서 자녀와 함께 겪게되는 정체성 문제와 그 해결책을 마련하는 방안을 모색해 본 것이다. 그 방안의 하나로 가정이나 학교, 지방 자치 단체에서 엄마 나라 언어 교육이나 문화 교육에 초점을 맞추어, 조기 2중 언어 문화교육을 실시해야 함을 제안해보았다. 또 실제 설문 사례를 들어 여성 결혼 이민자의 친정 쪽 친 인척을 통한 엄마나라의 언어 문화교육도 다문화 가정 정체성 고취에 효과적인 방안임을 주장했다. 어린 시절부터 외가 친척과 추억을 만들어가면서 2중 언어 교육을 한다면 엄마와 깊이 있는 대화 습관을 익힐 수 있고 순화된 사춘기를보낼 수 있으며 안정된 정서와 자긍심 가득한 성인으로 자랄 수 있을 것이기 때문이다. 다문화 가정의 정체성 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 우선, 영 유아 시기부터 엄마 교사를 통한 다문화 가정 자녀의 2중 언어 문화 교육정책이 필요하고, 이를 위한 엄마 교사용 교재의 개발 및 보급 정책이 필요하다. 또한 다문화 가정 여성 결혼 이민자들의 친정에 대한배려 정책도 미래 사회를 위해 시급히 노력해야 할 사업으로 여겨진다. 왜냐하면 다문화 가정의 친 인척을 우리의 가족으로 받아들이고 이해하고 공감하는 사회적 가치관이 함께 할 때 다문화 가정 꿈나무들이 미래 한국 사회의 유망주로 성장하는 데 큰 힘을 얻을 수있기 때문이다.
