With the progress of material civilization, the humankind is concentrating in urban areas where culture is formed to increase values of life, and material civilization has the purification structure of developing around cities. However, 'gray city' constructed with concrete structure is general for the majority of these contemporary cities. A desolate environment of the culture-deficient cities make a profound effect on emotional psychology of people and residential environment in urban areas of concrete structures and constructions that emit endocrine-disrupting chemicals makes bad effect on human body as well. Cities with an array of concrete buildings spoil the beauty of cities visually, and is also being the cause of damaging the urban image. Art tile is playing a significant role in creating not only the beauty buildings itself but of living space as well, and is being recognized as a very important field in room interior design. This study was intended to play a part in environmental improvement by designing ornamental art tiles, and used the 'tropical fish' pattern of marine ecosystem to reproduce an eco-friendly image. Also, the tile design was researched to prepare a new atmosphere of the beauty of urban environment by arousing familiarity and novelty of tropical fish. The purpose of this research is in improving the beauty of city buildings using sympathy of the city or interior and exterior materials. Among minimalism artists, this study selected artists who are connected with the color and pattern of tropical fish to compare and analyze them and applied the results on the design of this study. The pattern of tropical fish has harmonious beauty, and is the subject that gives desire and energy of artwork as an adequate source of creation. There is need to research he tile design of sculptural ceramics which expressed the refined shape of tropical fish and image of organic lines creatively and used their color, texture, and pattern.

물질문명의 발달과 더불어 인류는 삶의 가치 상승을 위해서 문화가 형성된 도시로 집중하고, 또한 물질문명은 도시를 중심으로 발달하는 순화구조를 가지고 있다. 그러나 이러한 대다수의 현대도시는 콘크리트 구조물로 형성된 회색도시가 일반적이다. 문화가 결여된 도시의 삭막한 환경은 인간의 정서적인 심리에 지대한 영향을 끼치는 것은 물론 환경호르몬을 배출하는 콘크리트 건축물 및 구조물들에 의한 도시환경에서의 주거 환경은 인체에도 좋지 못한 영향을 끼치고 있다. 콘크리트 건물들이 즐비한 도시는 시각적으로 도시의 미관을 해치며, 도시 이미지마저 추락시키는 원인이 되고 있다. 아트타일은 건축 자체의 아름다움 뿐 아니라 생활공간의 아름다움을 창조하는데 있어서 중요한 역할을 하고 실내 인테리어에서도 아주 중요한 분야로 인식되고 있다. 본 논문은 장식용 아트타일을 디자인하여 환경 개선에 일조하며, 특히 자연 친화적인 재현 이미지로 선택하고자 해양 생태계 ‘열대어’의 무늬를 활용하였다. 또한 열대어의 친근함과 신선함을 유발하여 새로운 분위기로써 도시환경의 미를 갖추고자 타일 디자인 연구를 하였다. 도심의 공감이나 내 외장 재료를 활용하여 도시 건물의 미관을 개선하는데 목적이 있다. 미니멀리즘(minimulism)의 미학적 이론을 주장하는 이들의 기하학적 형태와 유기적 형태의 조화를 관찰하였다. 미니멀리즘(minimulism)의 작가 중 열대어의 색상 및 패턴과 연관성이 있는 작가를 선정하여 이를 비교·분석하여 본 연구의 디자인에 적용하였다. 열대어의 무늬는 조화로운 미를 갖추고 있으며, 충분한 창작의 근원으로 작업의 욕구와 에너지를 부여하는 주제이다. 절제된 열대어의 형태, 유기적인 선의 이미지를 창의적으로 표현하고 색, 질감, 패턴을 활용한 도자조형의 타일 디자인을 연구해야할 필요성을 가진다.
