본 연구는 1잃5년부터 1866년까지 댄마크어로 출판된 한스 크리스찬 안데르센 (Hans Christian Andersen) 의 소설을 헨리 윌리염 더킨 (Henry William Dulcken) 이 영어로 번역한 번역문체를 분 석하는 데 목적이 있다. 1장에서는 작가에 대해서 개관하고， 2장에서는 번역문체를 논의한다.3장 에서는 문체연구의 배경으로 19세기 영국의 문학 폴리시스렘에 동화번역이 끼친 영향과 빅토리 아 시대의 안데르센 동화의 수용을 개관하고 번역가와 그의 초기 번역에 대해서 소개한다.4장에 서는 문체연구를 논의하며 5장에서는 비교문학연구에서 번역문체가 중요한 요소가 될 수 있다고 제언한다.
