The study aims to analyse causes of current deteriorating situations of children Baduk classes
and to propose measures for their revitalization. In the early 1990s, there were over 1,000 Baduk
classes spread all over the country. However, they have dwindled to 300 up to now. In these
situations, it is very important to analyze their stagnation causes and to seek countermeasures.
Those causes and countermeasures drawn from this study are as follows. External factors of the
stagnation are shrinking population of children caused by low birthrate, prevalence of
after-school Baduk classes, popularity of English education or other institutes. Internal factors are
unsystematic Baduk education programs, low quality of teachers and so on. Reestablishment of
unsystematic education system, reinforcement of teacher training, association with after-school
Baduk education and program development.

본 연구는 아동바둑교실의 침체원인을 분석하고 활성화 방안을 제시하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 1990년대 초 전국적으로 약1000여개 이상의 바둑교실이 성행하였으나 현재 300여개로 줄 어든 실정에서 이러한 침체원인을 분석하고 활성화 방안을 모색하는 것은 매우 중요한 일이다. 본 연구에서 도출해낸 침체원인과 활성화 방안은 다음과 같다. 침체원인의 외부적인 요인으로 는 저출산으로 인한 아동인구 감소와 방과 후 바둑교육의 활성화, 영어교육 및 타교육기관의 발전을 들 수 있으며, 내부적인 요인으로는 비체계적인 바둑교육프로그램과 교사의 자질등이 이에 속한다. 이에 대한 활성화 방안으로는 현재까지 비체계적으로 진행되었던 교육시스템 재 정립 및 교사교육 실시와 방과 후 바둑교육과의 연계 및 프로그램 개발 등이 있다.
