This paper is an endeavor at promoting some of the challenges faced by deaf artists particularly dancers in the Philippines. In doing this, the study identifies and discusses the working conditions and opportunities that go along with the application of deaf dance theater performances and practices for audience development and acceptance in the mainstream of the performing arts specifically in dance. This focuses on believing in the potential of young Filipino and deaf performing artists, discovering sign language as a means to explore movement in dance and to encourage deaf artists to rise above their disabilities and promote awareness of the deaf Filipino community to the hearing majority through the performing arts. The paper concludes that deaf artists, has a vital part to play towards creating a resilient, receptive in the field of performing arts and as an effective representative of the deaf artists in advancing the borders of audience awareness in any society and in the deaf community.

본 논문은 필리핀에서 무용을 하는 청각장애 예술가가 직면한 몇몇 도전들을 홍보하려 한다. 그리하여 본 연구는 주류 공연예술, 특별히 무용의 영역에서 관객의 개발과 수용을 위한 청각장애 공연과 실천의 적용과 병행하여, 작업상황과 기회들을 명료히 하고 논의하려 한다. 본 연구는 젊은 필리핀 청각장애 무용가의 가능성을 믿으며, 무용의 움직임을 탐험하는 방법으로서의 신호를 발견하고, 젊은 예술가들이 자신의 장애를 넘어서도록 격려하고, 공연예술을 통해 젊은 필리핀 청각장애 커뮤니티의 인식을 개선하는데 초점을 둔다. 결론적으로 청각장애예술인들은 공연예술계의 유연하고 수용적인 분위기를 만들고, 청각예술인을 효과적으로 대변하여 사회와 청각장애인커뮤니티에 대한 관객의 인식을 확장하는데 중요한 역할을 한다.
