The study investigated motif of 'abandoned child' shown on narrative of Lady Nokjok in North Korea and then identified existence aspects and meaning of narrative of Lady Nokjok accepted in ideology system of North Korea society. Narrative of Lady Nokjok in the North Korea shows characteristic existence aspects in the cause, process, and the result of abandoned child. First, narrative of Lady Nokjok in the North Korea demoted Mrs. Park's status to common woman in the midst of daily lives, although she is to be treated as 'Great Mother'. Such abandonment becomes logic as ideology of class struggle, though abandonment should lie in the meaning network of self- realization process of hero. Thus, mythical archetype which is essence of narrative of Lady Nokjok was neglected. Second, Children of Lady Nokjok are put in 'box' and abandoned. This is typical symbol for rebirth of hero. But narrative of Lady Nokjok in the North Korea removes 'box' motif in the process of abandonment of child so that the story becomes common event in the real world. Third, For the narrative of Lady Nokjok in the North Korea, uniquely this content is found in three revised narratives, that is, ‘A son who lost mother and was raised by another family becomes a good general to have a combat against enemy.’ They have high probability and strong reality but dramatic tension is poor. Fourth, the narrative of Lady Nokjok in the North Korea is closely related to Eulji Mundeok, a military leader of early 7th century in Goguryeo and war against the Sui in China. Through this, theme of patriotic struggle and victory against invasion by external enemy is embodied. Through such existence aspects shown on narrative of Lady Nokjok in the North Korea, we could identify one phase of literature and arts policy in the North Korea based on political party's character as a class humanity constructed with governing ideology of the North korea after division of Korean peninsula. The phase makes it possible to recognize not only literature and arts policy but also social and cultural reality in North Korea. Revised narrative of Lady Nokjok in the North Korea includes change of North Korean society after division of Korean peninsula. Understanding on the North Korea should be started from recognition of such a changed reality as one entity.

본고는 북한 녹족부인(鹿足婦人) 서사에 나타난 ‘기아(棄兒)’ 모티프를 고찰하여 북한 사회의 이념 체계 속에 수용된 녹족부인 서사의 존재 양 상과 의미를 확인하다. 북한의 녹족부인 서사는 기아의 원인과 과정, 그리고 결과에 있어 특징적인 존재 양상을 보여준다. 첫째, 북한 녹족부인 이야기는 ‘위한 어머니’로서의 신격(神格)을 갖추어야 할 녹족부인의 존재적 위상을 일상 속의 범속한 여인으로 격하시키고, 웅의 자기 실현 과정이라는 의미망에 놓여 있어야 할 아들들의 버려짐을 계급투쟁의 이념으로 논리화함으로써 녹족부인 서사의 본질인 신화적 원형성을 도외시하고 있다. 둘째, 녹족부인의 아들들이 ‘상자’에 담겨 버려지는 것은 웅으로의 재생을 위한 입사의례의 상징성을 갖는데, 북한 녹족부인 서사는 기아의 과정에서 ‘상자’ 모티프를 소거시켜서 이야기를 현실 세계의 범상(凡常)한 사건으로 만들고 있다. 셋째, 북한 녹족부인 서사에서는 특이하게도 ‘어머니를 잃고 남의 손에서 자란 아들이 훌륭한 장수가 되어 적군과 싸운다’는 내용을 갖는 세 편의 변이서사가 확인되는데, 이들은 사건의 개연성은 높고 현실감이 강한 반면에 극적 긴장감은 부족하다. 넷째, 북한 녹족부인 서사는 실존 인물인 을지문덕과 역사적인 사건인 수나라와의 전쟁에 접하게 결합되어 있고, 이를 통해서 외적의 침입에 대한 애국적 투쟁과 승리라는 주제를 구현한다. 이와 같은 북한에서 녹 족부인 서사가 보여주는 존재 양상을 통해 우리는 남북한 분단 이후 북한의 지배 이데올로기가 구축한 계급교양으로서 당성(黨性)에 기반한 북한 문예 정책의 한 단면을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 단면은 문예 정책에 한 정되어 있는 것이 아니라 북한의 사회적․문화적 현실에 한 인식도 가능케 한다. 북한 녹족부인 서사의 변이 양상에는 남북한 분단 이후 북한 사회의 변화 양상이 개재되어 있으며, 그와 같은 변화의 현실을 하나의 실체로 인정하는 것에서부터 북한에 대한 이해가 시작되어야 한다.
