韓国語と日本語の使役表現比較 ‒翻訳小説を資料とした韓日対照を通して‒
A comparison of Korean and Japanese causative expressions - Through the contrast of Korean and Japanese expressions in translated fiction -
There are a lot of similarities between the Korean language and the Japanese language. It is said that speakers of one can easily learn the other language. However, even if the learners use grammatically correct Japanese, the difference between two languages often cause another expression, which may lead to misunderstandings. Japanese “causative” is one of the difficult expressions for Korean learners. In order to use Japanese causative expressions in appropriate situations, it is necessary for the learners to understand the characteristics of the Korean causative accurately and to recognize the differences between the two languages. To clarify the pragmatic differences of both languages, I compared the Japanese and Korean causative expressions, which correspond to Japanese translation of “-seru” and “-saseru”. As a result, I found out that the viewpoint of the Korean language is quite different from the Japanese language. The viewpoint of Korean is stationary, which represents the politeness of the Korean language. On the other hand, there is a tendency in Japanese to represent politeness with a dynamic viewpoint. Korean learners tend to use direct impressions because of this viewpoint. I think the difference of the viewpoint is the difference of politeness. By characterizing it in a pragmatic manner, I suggested the point in Japanese causative expressions.
