The Jingak Esoteric Buddhism developed its own ritual system with a practice of the Three-secret Contemplation on the Six-syllable Mantra which was systematized by the founder, Hoedang. This ritual is characterized as a simplified and modernized ritual procedure for lay devotional practitioners. The current aspect of Jingak’s overseas organizations is still in the state of immigrant Buddhism. To be more strictly, they have not been showing any sign of moving forward Convert Buddhism for around 20 years. Now they have difficulty in recruiting new members among American-born people in the competitive religion market. This paper challenges some suggestions for future growth and development of Jingak’s overseas mission whereby the Jingak can overcome the present status and move forward Convert Buddhism to be Americanized.

진각밀교는 육자진언에 삼밀선정의 실천을 보여주는, 회당대종사에 의해 체계화된 자신만의 독특한 의식체계를 개발했다. 이 의식은 재가수행자에게 적합한 단순화되고 현대화된 의식차제의 특징을 가지고 있다. 진각종 해외심인당의 현재의 양상은 여전히 이민자 중심의 불교의 상태 로 남아 있다. 더 엄밀히 말하자면, 약 20년 동안 개종자 불교로의 발전의 모 습을 보여주지 못하고 있다. 이제는 경쟁이 심한 미국 종교사회에서 미국 태 생의 사람들을 새로이 신교도로 모집하기가 어려운 상황이다. 이 논문은 진각종의 해외 포교가 미래에 성장 발전할 수 있는 몇가지 제 안을 제기하고 있다. 이러한 제안의 실천으로 진각종은 현재의 상황을 극복 할 수 있고 미국화된 개종자 불교로 발전 할 수 있을 것이다.
