At senior group homes, one of the elderly welfare facilities, they spend most of their time inside due to the senile disorders they suffer; however, as they are open for all in the same way, each individual’s needs or characteristics cannot be satisfied properly. This researcher has recognized the importance of interior environment welfare at senior group homes and necessity to improve their environment better and suggested fabric prop design as a way of improvement by figuring out the current status of the facility environment with its subjects of senior group homes and analyzing the problems based on that. Therefore, this study takes the following procedure: first, it conducts theoretical consideration through advanced research review and analysis on interior color or emotional design in consideration of the characteristics of the elderly. Second, it intends to examine living environment at senior group homes by conducting actual investigation on them and find out ways to improve the interior environment and respect each individual’s privacy. Third, based on advanced research review and analysis on the actual status of them, it suggests emotional fabric prop design. With the blue dye equipped with eco-friendly characteristics such as deodorant, heat-retaining, and insect-proof effects, the study suggests curtains that can be used in their private and also group living space. Suggesting this emotional fabric prop design, the researcher attempts to create pleasant environment as part of environmental improvement and provide better senior welfare at this point that we have entered aging society. Moreover, it is expected that this study will be used as material for living environment at senior group homes to be built afterwards.

노인복지시설의 하나인 노인 요양공동생활 가정의 입소자들은 노인성 질환 등으로 대부분의 생활을 실내에서 보내고 있지만, 일관된 공간으로 입소자 개개인의 특성과 욕구에 맞추어진 적합한 대응이 이루어지지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 노인 요양공동생활 가정의 실내 환경복지에 대한 중요성을 인식하여, 보다 나은 환경개선을 위해 노인 요양공동생활 가정을 대상으로 시설환경의 현황을 파악하고 거기에 따른 문제점들을 분석하여, 개선방안으로 패브릭 소품디자인을 제시하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 첫째, 노인들의 특성을 고려한 실내색채 및 감성디자인에 관한 선행연구조사 및 분석을 통하여 이론적 고찰을 하였다. 둘째, 실태조사를 실시하여 노인 요양공동생활 가정의 생활환경을 파악하고 실내 환경의 개선과 프라이버시가 존중될 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 셋째, 선행연구와 실태조사를 기반으로 감성적 패브릭 소품디자인을 제안하였다. 소취, 보온(消臭, 保溫) 및 방충(防蟲)효과의 자연친화적 특징을 가진 쪽염(藍染)에 착안하여 개인생활공간과 공동생활공간에 사용되는 커튼을 제안하였다. 이러한 감성적 패브릭 소품디자인을 제시함으로써 환경개선의 일환으로 쾌적한 환경을 도출하고자 하며, 고령화 사회에 들어선 현시점에 개선된 노인복지를 제공하고자 한다. 또한, 향후 설치될 노인 요양공동생활 가정의 생활환경에 대한 자료로도 활용되어지리라 기대해 본다.
